Help finding some particular music

I'm trying to find a certain type of rap music, the faster and harder stuff in particular. My attempts to find this myself have, for the most part, proven to be fruitless thus far. I got my hands on a copy of Hip Hop is Dead, and certain songs on it are much closer to what I'm looking for than most of the other artists out there.

I'll give a few examples of the sorts of songs I'm trying to find, Black Republican, Hip Hop is Dead and Let There be Light, all of which are off the album I mentioned above. DMX's Where the Hood At is a fairly good example too. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. So if anyone could mention a few artists or albums along those lines I'd be very happy.

If you mean more hardcore Hip-Hop then the Wu-Tang,Mobb Deep and Nas stuff of the mid 90's is probably the best place to look.Outkast have some incredible up tempo Hip-Hop on their first few albums.

If you do mean the darker more hardcore stuff then I could give you a list a few pages long but I'm not exactly clear as to what you are talking about.Let There Be Light is brilliant but not exactly representative of the more up tempo and darker type of Hip-Hop out there.

Excellent. Now that you mention them I'm fairly certain there's at least one Wu-Tang Clan CD knocking about.

I'm not really sure what the term hardcore refers to. I went to wikipedia and looked at this particular page which is pretty vague in terms of what the word "hardcore actually means. There's a huge list at the bottom of the page

"up tempo" stuff as you put it is definitely what I'm after though.

If its the likes of Nas and the Wu you like then you can't go wrong with a lot of the stuff from the 90's from New York. The list in the link you provided is a little long, so I'll cut it down a bit to make it easier...

Mobb Deep - The Infamous, Hell On Earth.
Nas - Illmatic, It Was Written.
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The 36 Chambers, Forever.
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Links.
    GZA - Liquid Swords.
Ghostface Killah - Ironman, Supreme Clientele.
    AZ - Doe Or Die.
    Method Man - Tical.
Black Moon - Enta Da Stage.
    Killah Priest - Heavy Mental.
    Inspectah Deck - Uncontrolled Substance.
    Cormega - The Realness.
    Gangstarr - Moment Of Truth.

    Thats a pretty good start.
