Notebooks owners rejoice Asus have developed an actual working external GPU.

It is powered by a 7900GS hopefully more options will be available in the future and uses the Expresscard interface for a dedicated PCI-e x16 link.

    Full details on DailyTech.

    * No need for big GPU in notebook guzzling power and generating heat.
    * The external GPU has it's own power source.
    * Upgrade option for those without good GPU's.
    * Uses Expresscard if you don't have one of those slots on your notebook no dice I'm afraid, Expresscard replaced PCMCIA most new notebooks should have the slot.

Edit: A little confusion over the PCI-e speed link not sure exactly but Expresscard slots could be PCI-e x1 if so that would definitely affect performance but by how much we will have to wait and see if this turns out to be the case.
