I dont know if anyone else has already done a thread like this and the news is like 6 months old... but still.

During a wander through the ViewAskew site (Kevin Smith's main website) it occured to that once upon a time he was going to do a Fletch film, this is going back almost ten years. In the mean time Smith has gotten a bit side tracked. So i then thought if anyone else was going to revive another great Gregory Mc Donald novel to make into a film. To my delight somebody was, a mister Bill Lawrence. Great, i love the way he does Scrubs. Unfortunately i then found out that Zach Braff might be up for the roll of Irwin 'Fletch' Fletcher, no doubt an idea from his pal Bill. Im a big fan of Braff, Garden State is brillant, as is the FIRST few series of Scrubs. I just cant see Zach as Fletch. Braff just doesn't have that ... something, thats needed to pull of the character. He looks to naive and young for the part even if the new flick is about a younger Fletch.

I understand that Cheeve Chase couldn't really do it now but there has to be a better man for the job.

When kevin smith was thinking of doing the picture he thought that HIS friend
Jason Lee would be a perfect fit and im inclined to agree. Another acter who comes to mind is Ryan Reynolds of recent Smokin aces.
While i a looking forward to the new film which probably wont come to our shore till 2008, the thought of Zach Braff being Fletch has ruffled a few of my feathers.

Bill Lawrence is directing and Zach Braff is playing Fletch. It could be decant, as long as Chevy Chase is kept well away.

Jason Lee would be cool for the role. I just hope Braff does it justice.

Its obvious Jason Lee would suit the part, its my choice too. he even does the voice over well in my name is earl, which has always been at the core of the 2 Fletch film.

but i feel i must justify my ryan reynolds comment. Hes not a crap acter hes just been in some crap films like just friends but he still pulled off a good proformance as the arrogant non obease part of his character. i put him up for the role of Fletch coz i think he could do a good a cheeve chase MEANING that gavin the same type dialogue and direction i think that he would do justice to what cheeve did for the originals. he acts in a similiar way and i quite liked Two Guys and a Girl.
