Hey folks and a happy new year!

I have a question regarding Shocks and changing or topping up the oil.

I opened the shocks this evening as I have 2 gallons through the buggy and thought id better check seeing as the shock is a bit on the loose side lower down in the extended position.

I poured out a tiny bit of oil from the shock having extended it an compressed it a few times incase there was settled muck in it.
However the shock oil is perfectly clean.
Should I just add a drop or to extra?
When fully compressed the oil raises flush with the top of the shock edge.
(On the lid of the shock is a dark sphere made of rubber prolly just a shock stopper.)

But it being a bit slack when you put the buggy on the ground should I simply pour out the oil thats there has it thinned over time?

    Cheers,
    Nick.

Your best bet is to run 30W oil for the shocks(silocone oil). I say change the oil and give it a wash in between. When you put the oil in hold it up straight so no oil will come out and move the shaft up and down slowly, this will get rid of any air bubbles. Do it to all 4 shocks because it will become unbalanced if not;)

This is something I could never understand.
If you fill them with oil and move the plunger up and down surely this will displace the oil in there ??

What I normally do is the following.
Open the shock..Draing it/Clean it. Now when you look into the shock resovoir you shouls see the threadin on the inside of the shok body to attach the top half to ( the plunger section ) I normally fill the body with silicon oil ( I used 50wt in the revo but use 45 in my sons race car)
When you attach the top half and screw it down it will displace a very small amount of oil.. I am then quite happy that they are pretty well balanced from their. I would check the shocks in his car very regular as a small amout of oil weeping out of one shock with throw the car completely out of balance and could cause it to donought like crazy. :D

    Cheers guys,

Ill move the shock up n down slowly I noticed earlier that when the shock shaft is going down a huge amount of air bubbles were created from 2 holes in the plunger.
