Right, this may be a stupid question to ask, but bare with me here, I'm not exactly computer literate:
Up until 30 minutes ago, I had task buttons and all was well and good. Now, I have my quickstart panel, start and that little group in the bottom right hand corner (told you I wasn't literate), but no internet explorer tab or windows media player or the like. (Have a look at my little diagram there =p)
I don't remember clicking anything so I don't know what to unclick, so to speak, but I want the little buttons back. Quite the pain in the arse not having them!
So, anyone know how I can fix it?
Cheers in advance if you can help.

    Right click on your toolbar.
See what it says under 'Toolbars'.

PC at works randomly does this even though the taskbar is locked!

A reboot fixed it before. Other times I just ended up dragging and resizing everything until it was back to normal.

Spurious, under toolbars it only has things like desktop and quicklaunch, but I mean when you have, say, Word open, and down the bottom of your screen it has "Word Document - Title"... Maybe thats not called a taskbutton at all... But its not there anymore!
Ethernet, do you literally mean dragging the window of the programme down to the bar? Because I've tried that and it just left me with a load of windows at the bottom of my screen!
Anybody else able to give me a step-by-step set of directions? Think IT retards =P

I found this solution, read the reply and go to the webpage and down to solution 240, it will direct you to a VBS file that you have to run. Make sure to do create a System Restore point before running the file so if it causes problems then you can rollback to before it happened. Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore->Create a restore point.

Ruu, that worked perfectly! Thanks very much! And thanks for the 'How to rollback' bit ;D

You're welcome. Remember to use System Restore in the future, it has saved me a few times when making changes to the system went pear shaped. :)
