I am about to bring my 360 back to be repaired for the second time and i think it is more common for a 360 to break then a 360 to have no problems

Ah come on, someone had to do it ;)

But seriously, i have had no problems with mine.

Mine is only a couple of weeks old now and fine, whats the story with 'when' it breaks? Do I bring it back to where I bought it or do I post it to Microsoft?

I'm not sure where my receipt is... will I need it?

Mines fine, mostly, and I've had it since April-ish I think.

Of course all of ours are now going to break as well in the next week thanks to Dman001.

I've had mine since launch. It's holding up well, although the USB ports on the front have always seemed a bit wonky. I have to plug and unplug a wired controller about 5 or 6 times before it works.

    Me, about 3 months old

my 2nd replacment (refurbished) went belly up before xmas. I am currently getting a refund off MS as there is no way I am taking another referb repaired one. BTW, getting a refund off MS is a painful and long process and involves starting legal action, they are a nightmare if you go off the script.

So Ronan, are you going to use the refund to get a new one?
Or are you going to just invest in something that won't break?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,566 ✭✭✭GrumPy

Mine is a launch console, and still humming away like a jet engine :D

No, I am more than happy to buy a new console with the refund, I just refuse to accept another refurbished model, as God knows how many times it will have been repaired. As far as I am concerned I bought a new console, not a repaired 2nd/3rd/4th or whatever hand one. Thankfuklly the Irish sales of good act 1980 agrees!

I'm a bit puzzled why people are negotiating/dealing with MS when the console goes wonky. No-one has done business directly with MS ... surely the thing to do is go back to the shop you gave money to and let them sort it out. If it's faulty you're entitled to a refund. ??

Yeah, yer dead right......... always return to the point of sale, and get yerself a new one off the retailer.

Day one console here........no issues apart from the mini-typhoon, although I doubt I use it as much as the rest of ye
Brother had a launch console....red lights after a month or so, replacement went haywire as well......his current one was giving the ring of death the other day as well..
Don't think it matters when you got your machine, it can be as unreliable as the fail-rate suggests..

And what makes you think that? They seem to be the most problematic ones. I got one replace and the Jap console is ok

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,986 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

Mine was purchased and launch at no problems.
I'm its third owner and I got it from adverts.ie

I must have been lucky so far

Not sure you're correct there about the refund. If it's faulty out of the box you're entitled to a refund. If it goes faulty 6 months down the road you're entitled to a repair or replacement or a refund but I don't think it's your choice which you get. Id say retailers would always do them in the repair, replace or refund order. I could be wrong there (please correct me if I'm wrong).

You are correct about your contract though. It's with the retailer. Depends how good the MS service is I suppose. Take whichever one is better.

As for my Xbox360. I've had one for a week now. No probs yet :) and I've given it a hammering.

Had mine since the 28th Dec 2005, with no issue that is until last week, when playing Viva Pinata for about an hour the console freezes up, no errors or anything I just have to reboot the 360 and it works fine again, is this a bad sign? Is it a game bug? It doesn't happen on any other games I have Dead Rising, GOW COW2 etc.

    Snake ;)

Like Tax Man only problem I had was the red ring I got for a loose AV cable the first time I turned on the console. Have only had it for 5 or 6 weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

Had mine since a week before Christmas with no problems.

My mate bought one on Wednesday and got a red ring today, said he switched it off and back on and it was ok but I'd be a bit worried. I know it's not a cable problem because I set it up for him and it was working every day without problem until now.

Had mine about 5 months with no problems, but I got it second hand from gamestop and it was a launch console.

Have mine since launch and seen the red rings twice....turn off then back on and all was well!
