    Hey just a quick question,

Can PC! slots take a graphics card?

My uncle has a PC with onboard graphics and he doesnt have a PCI-E or AGP slot,

I see on the net u can get PCI graphics cards,

Do these fit in the standard PCI slots?

    Thanks

Yeah but I think they are pretty crap and a waste of money.

They may be better than onboard stuff. But you are not going to play any recent games on a PCI gfx card. Old games and perhaps give Video/DivX playback a boost on a slow machines that about it. Also useful for adding more monitors, TV out etc. Cheap PCI cards are great for this.

You used to be able to get a GF4 MX440 as PCI and maybe a ATI 9000. That was about as fast as they got, and could actually find in the shops. There were a few faster ones but you could never find them. They would allow you to play old games like HalfLife one etc.

I actually bought the 5200 256MB variant 2 years ago for a relation who purchased a computer a year earlier that didnt have any AGP slot.

It ran Doom3 at low detail and resolution...no much more can be said.

Modern integrated graphics from intel, I believe, can give those 5200's a run for their money!

You can run Battlefield 2, Company of Heroes and other new Games on the latest PCI cards. I thought the best was a PCI 6200, but just found out today there is also an Ati X1300 available which is marginally better.

Of course you're never going to be doing much then playing said games on low-ish settings but at least it gives you some upgradability.

As regards the Fx5200 vs Intel Hardware, on paper they are close but in reality the Fx5200 kicks Intel chips all over the shop.
