Problem burning audio CDs with Nero

At the moment I've a problem when burning audio CDs with Nero 7.0.8.2  The source files are mp3s which play fine with media player and when transfered to my Ipod also play fine but when I burn the files to audio CDs they skip slightly on some of the tracks. I've tried using different brands of blank CDs but this doesn't make any difference.
The PC is a DELL 8300 and the DVD Writer is a NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A

Has anyone got any ideas

    Thanks in advance

Have you tried lowering the burning speed?
tried playing the cds on more than one stereo?

Also try selecting verify data when burning.

    I get this too.
I figure it's down to the mp3s being VBR encoded.

Convert them to WAV (44100 Hz, 16 bits) prior to adding to Nero to stop the stuttering (which I find gets worse the longer the track plays)

I'd recommend dBPowerAMP myself for the conversion.

    Note
You'll have to manually amend the artist/track names if you use WAV & your drive supports cd-text

This may be lame but have you tried doing in through media player. Don't do much burning but it seems pretty solid.

Actually never burned a disk for myself but I've had no complaints.
