Looking to launch all of the above in one go.

    Assoc.
Its been mentioned often enough in the last while, may aswell get something going, anyone interested in heading it? looking in Jeffs direction here.

    Training School
Id like to see all dealers dealing the same way, theres a lot of basics being done wrong slowing the game down, looking at having 2 training courses, one for NL holdem tournaments and a second one for Pot Limit games and cash games. There will be certs provided. A few tournament organiser have already said they will pay for some of their dealers to be trained. All Kimbas idea and she'll be over to do some of the training.

    Database
Anyone that does the training course will be put on the database, if a tournament organiser needs dealers they can get in touch and Ill contact everyone on the database.

Thats the basics of it anyway, could anyone interested PM me with their email/mobile details, also any ideas fire away.

    Oscar Fred.

That sounds like a brilliant idea Oscar and a well overdue one.

Definately be a good idea to be a credited Dealer, is their such accreditations internationally? And if so would you be looking to have it accredited along par with those ones?

For the moment Ill be looking to have it GALA accredited which should be a positive when the new regulations come in. Im not aware of any international ones but if there are Ill se what I can do. Either way it should come in handy if anyone is looking to work overseas.

If a set of rules is aggreed on by all organisers TDs it would help too. All dealers using small rules for all situations, if a card is exposed for example, 3rd from bottom or use the burnt card etc

    d'oh!

this is a great idea . there are a few problems. Funding would be required to set this up properly, not much, but enough for a website etc.

how would this effect casino;s and clubs differently to independent tourny organisers

Mellor, thats close to impossible, however all dealers will be trained one way, organisers hold quick meeting before tournament and explain certain differing rules that they have.

    Website is in progress.

As far as the dealers assoc goes, for the moment I think it would be a big step in the right direction to get something set up where if any dealer has a problem they can talk to the assoc instead of posting on boards, we'll see where it goes from there.

I mean it more along the lines hat if all dealers are doing it the same way, then TD will quickly adopt it. The big ones at least, not mush you can do about the guys down the pub

Just a quick update, after taking some advice Ive decided not to go ahead with the Dealers Assoc. side of things, its too much hassle and I feel there will be a conflict of interest between being involved in that and the rest of it. If anyone else wants to set this up go for it.

As far as the training side of things go I'll be getting trainers trained this weekend and hopefully have the first course the start of February eventually with one course a month on a set date.

Good luck with this Oscar. A few questions though.

    1. How long will it take to get through this course (assuming first time success)?
    2. How much will this cost?
    3. Can dealers apply for this themselves or do they have to be put forward from a casino or company?
    4. Will people on their own applying get different rates than is charged to a casino that might have repeat business?
    5. Will some people fail if they cannot do side pots efficiently or if they are too slow?

    1. How long will it take to get through this course (assuming first time success)?

Each course will be 1 day, everyone should pass, the brighter the dealer the faster. app 6hrs I would say.

    2. How much will this cost?

    Around a days pay. TBA

    3. Can dealers apply for this themselves or do they have to be put forward from a casino or company?

Dealers can and have applied themselves.

    4. Will people on their own applying get different rates than is charged to a casino that might have repeat business?

There shouldnt be too much difference.

    5. Will some people fail if they cannot do side pots efficiently or if they are too slow?

No, everybody is slow at first, thats practise, as long as a dealer is shown how to work out a sidepot properly theyll be slow at first but theyll know how to do it and all itll take is hours practising.
