I've set up Skype on my Mother's Dell PC with a Freecom Phone. Problem is, when we Skype to Skype her conneciton cuts out after a few seconds. I know the problem is on her end because I use Skype with other friends and I've no problem. She has the time limited Eircom Broadband option. Could this be the problem?

Use you computer on her connection and try to call your friends to test out the connection.

I have similar issues myself using Skpe with an eircom connection. Periodically my calls get dropped without warning. I'm using a cordless Panasonic handset but I don't think thats the issue. When the call is dropped the call timer is still ticking away.

I've heard a rumour that the eircom system squeezes the connection of users using skype and downloading large movie files from certain sites after a certain period of time. Not sure how true this is. I've a mate who regularly calls the US with skype like myself who left eircom because of this issue. He went to UPC and hasn't looked back since. I'm thinking of doing something similar myself
