Just been doing some ocing today, was stable and all, but had a random restart.

Upon booting. it loaded the windows loading screen. Then got the bsod.

Cleared the cmos ( jumper ), and returned all bios settings to normal.

But im still getting the same error.

    Have even reseated all components.

    The bsod im getting is:

    " UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME "

    STOP: 0x000000ED ( 0x8637DC98, 0x0000006, 0x000000, 0x000000 )

I know this has something to do with the mbr. Do i really have to fixmbr ?

I dont fancy having to spend the next 4 hours installing drivers and doing my tweaks.

Also i cant see how this has happened, why why clearing the cmos hasnt worked.

Any help on this would be great.

Did any of this article from the MS Knowledge base make any sense? Did you try booting into the recovery console from the XP CD and type chkdsk /r? Worth a try.
