    1. whats the best computer course to do???
That's a completly personal choice. What if I said Somthing in umb was best (that's in Boston btw). Or more locally, if I said something in Limerick was best, are you willing to travel? (of course, I dunno where you are located atm but these are just examples)

What if I told you a programming intensive course was best but your real interest was graphics or networking.

Best computing course for media and video editing, I don't know tbh. I don't know if you would even call that a "computing" course. Not to be condesending or anything, I just think when someone says "computing" course they mean computer science.

Anyway, I am doing Computer Applications in DCU and have been loving it. Just what I wanted, however there isn't an ounce of Media or Video Editing (You could encorporate it into some of your projects but they are not focused on at all really).
2.What kinda job would i get ??? what does it entail

The opportuinities are far to varied and entail a whole pethora of things. Too much to go into without a better explaination of what your looking for.
    3. an average salary?

Again, that's pretty hard to give. Generally you will start at around 20k and then things will start to go up. It's and endless scale though. I won't give any averages as I don't know having yet to progress through the brackets. Great money if your good at what you do.
4.Is there much work in ireland for someone with a this degree

Again, since our ideas of "computing" have not been defined clearly this is hard to answer. I have no idea about multimedia and video. As for programming, database management and all that. Plenty of work.

Sorry about the rubbish answers, but I am not totally sure what you are into. Have you tried coding? Do you enjoy working with computers? (and I mean working, not playing!) Are you interested in lower level computing or is it just software that interests you? (IE, modelling with studio max/photoshop and video editing)

i'm really interested in multimedia and video editing etc
Then you'll probably want to do a multimedia-based course, not a computing-based one.

Then like Aidan says, your probably looking for a multimedia course and not a computing one.

    IADT do a few.
DCU have some stuff, noteably;this one.

That's the stuff you might be more into so you can go looking for other courses in other colleges.

i just thought a computing course would be the way to go... it seems that a multimedia course would be hard to get a career out of in ireland .. has anyone here ever done this course

Senior College Ballyfermot do a lot of very good multimedia courses.

What's the point in doing a computing course if you're not interested in computing in general? You should try to start a career that your'e interested in, in this case, in multimedia (even that's quite a general term).

    start of with a comptia a+ and a n+ ( hardware and networking )

Then if you like networking do a ccne/a or a mcse/a.

Best bet is to ring your local college or fas and book a appointment to go in and have a chat.

Don't confuse a like of doing multimedia stuff on a computer with liking computing. They're very different. That would be like me saying I love doing spreadsheets and doing computing instead of accounting.

The courses mentioned above are probably the strongest multimedia based ones. Trinity also has a strong multimedia side to their computing courses afaik. If you want a 'proper' computing course, computer science in UCD is rated the best in Ireland.
