Why? When Dell bring out better PCs for the same price does anybody say shafterooney? At least gameswise the games will be exactly the same on V1 & V2 of the console. That's the point of consoles. Don't need to get new video cards or faster processors every 6 months.

I think it's cool. I'd like the bigger HDD but I presume I can get that as an add on when it comes out. As for the HDMI port. I can live without that anyway.

Unless you need the hdmi port, you could just upgrade the hdd on your current console, although id presume it would be expensie enough if the 20 gb is already 100 euro.Maybe there will be hd dvd drive inc, would be more sensible.

I presume they'll remove the 20gb drive from the market and only have 120gb ones to buy separate.

I would also guess that the current 'premium' will become the core with the new 360 becoming the 'new' premium.

apparently no internal HD-DVD drive and if you look at the pic the groove is still there for the wifi dongle so that sucks. so why stop half way?

They should do an upgrade program at least - consoles used never be like this. they started this precedent with the 2 entry points with core and premium and it sucks.

    MS make things overly complicated?

There was the Mega Drive and then the Mega Drive CD. That was a big mistake. Two different formats for the games.

If there gonna do an upgrade, they should do it proper.

    120GB HDD
Built in wifi like the wii/ps3
    hdmi output
    ONE drive that reads dvd/cd/hd-dvd

That would be good but I can see it from MS's point of view. I wouldn't need or want to pay for the spec above. I'm sure many people are in the same boat. HD-DVD would add a couple of hundred Euro to the price (not everybody wants to pay more for their movies yet and not everybody has a Hi Def TV). Wifi is handy but it adds cost also and not everybody uses it.
This way they can probably still make money on the console and their basic specs look good when compared with a PS3 for a hell of a lot cheaper.

well fair enough on the hd-dvd drive but the wifi add on internal would only cost about €15!! and alot of people WOULD use it!

OK, if it was that cheap to add I suppose it would be worth it. But I'm sure if they did add it you'd see lots of threads here complaining about MS adding a device to the Xbox that they don't use.

Anyway a big upgrade they could do for all of us for free is to make the media centre portion the same as XBMC on the original (modded) Xbox. You should be able to play any type of file from any type of PC. I can do it on my original Xbox and it's a killer app. I've had mates buy original Xboxes once they've seen mine just for this feature. I can stream divx, xvid, mp3, ogg whatever from my linux server with no hassle. It's not that hard to do, they're just trying to control our formats. Hasn't worked for Sony yet, I don't think it's going to work for MS (for media anyway).

Not a chance. HDMi is all about controlling copyright and DRM. Vista is brimming with DRM controls. The new MS Office is up to its eyeballs in propietary formats etc.

That's why I still have the old Xbox still playing my movies.

Sorry to be off topic, but I just got my 360 for christmas and is there any chance of a web browser being introduced in a furture (Firmware?) update to the console?

Extremely unlikely for a variety of reasons.
    1) IE has a bad rep.
    2) Opens up possible attack vectors (for hacking).
    3) MS has no up to date embedded version of IE, the PocketPC version is from IE4!
    4) To do it quickly MS would need to license another browser such as Opera - not going to happen.

Anyway back on topic Xbox scene has more photos and a video of the Xbox 360 rev.2 in action proving it's not a fake.

It has a new scaler chip called HANA which replaces the old ANA which was analogue only so at least we know the new HDMI port can scale content.

They also show it hooked up to a LCD monitor via a DVI adapter in the video.

Is there much need though? I mean unless you have a keyboard and mouse connected it would just be a pain to use.
