Any opinions, recommendations? I just finished the 3 Donkey Kong Country games, which I loved, anything along similar lines?

    Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
    Earthworm Jim
    Tiny Toon Adventures
    Super Star Wars
Super Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
    Lethal Weapon
    Metroid (kinda)

Off the top of my head...There's plenty to choose from.

Not sure why, but DKC feels like a fairly unique platformer... not sure what else you could check out that's along the same lines.
Yoshi's Island & Super Mario World are a great place to start though

Funnily enough, DKC was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread's title... fantastic game:)

Check out Super Bonk for ultimate platform goodness.

    Master of the Universe

Or find a Mega drive and play the platform games on that instead ;)

There are six Sonic games which are all excellent. Many other great pretty unknown ones such as Ristar.

Might not have as many colours on screen, but a faster processor, so much faster game speed. Always why I found the Sonic series more fun then Mario.

(Well, the 16 bit versions, after that Sonic games got very...very very..veeeeeery bad)

I always thought the first 3 sonic games were great then the franchise took a downward turn. Sonic the fighers was an alright arcade thats emulated by nebula if anyone hasn't played it.

Bubsy was a disgrace of epic proportions.

Seconded, probably one of my favourite 2d platformers. I always found mario a bit boring but alladin was exciting the whole way through.

The first wasn't that bad but they did get steadily worse:)

The Mega Drive version of Aladdin was superior imo. I must fire both up again and take another look
