Has anyone done this recently? I have two kids aged 4 and 5 and would like to take them away with us this year, and trying to keep costs down!
Ive never been camping at all, should i try in out in Ireland first??

Is it essential to drive on camping holidays as im only provisional driver so cant rent a car, do they campsites do mobile homes too??

All advice welcome, is it cheaper to go camping or does it work out just as expensive?

    Thanks !:D

Never been camping but can suggest a possible alternative

I love driving on hols and do a lot of it

This year my wife and I rented a villa close to Marbella for a week. We had a 3 bed villa with 2 bathrooms etc , outside deck for eating in the evening and our own large pool. Good kitchen with fridge, microwave, dishwasher, cooker etc etc and Sattelite TV with UK channels.

Okay you need a car but you would probably be bringing one or hiring one anyway.

Villa cost € 1,000 for the week and would have been the same even if more people in it. We found it very relaxing and you can get ones cheaper. Cheapest with private pool would be around € 800 but you can get one for € 5-600 if you share a pool with the neighbours.

I have been to France with my family many times with Campotel who really look after you out there including an activity club for the kids, mostly Irish couriers and generally you are in a mobile close to other Irish families so the youngsters make friends and tend not to be constantly looking to be entertained by Mam and Dad.

Most of the companies have switched over almost entirely to mobiles but you may still be able to book a tent in some sites.

You would want to check with both the company you intend to book with and your own insurance company about the provisional licence, you would definitely need the car out there.

Price depends totally on where and when you want to go and which ferry company you travel with, there is a price list on the campotel site.
You should also have a look at Keycamp
