    Hey

Not sure if right forum if not please move and my apologies.

Basically I hve been hearing about Kildare outlet store (Kildare Village) and have been told its a afactory outlet for many brands. I have been getting the impression we are talking about prac wholesale prices which would be fantastic yet i never hear anyone talking about it.

Can anyone shed any light on their value in prices.
    Thanks in advance

I was up there during the summer and was not impressed, They have some of the high end brand names, but to be honest the prices were not that cheap.

The only place I though there were any decient discounts was in the Nike Store.

But all depends on what your looking for I guess, and what you consider a bargan!

considering BT and Arnotts have 30-50% off I would expect 50% to bother going its not exactly too close, was considering going after work

    Thanks for reply

my GF went a few weeks ago and said it was ok - but stock wasn't great as it was just after christmas.

An example would be that she bough an outfit for a baby girl (not ours! :D) in the Monsoon outlet for €52, which was €152 in the Monsoon in Dundrum.

I went down recently and it was good, much better than rathdowny.
Good deals to be found in Clarkes, Nike, Levis, Quicksilver. Nothing much in the CK shop though unless you are male with a waist size of < 30 inches!
If its close its worth a look

Levis and Nike stores were the ones that I found bargains but that was back in August.

Was up there just before xmas good bargains to be had in the Quicksilver outlet. Alot of the stuff is nearly half the price of high street retailers.
The only thing I noticed was that you really had to hit it lucky with the sizes, they only seemed to have very limited number of certain sizes, then again that could have just been the sell down on the run up to xmas.

when i was there I thought the prices were good but selection was bad. they had good offers in nike and quiksilver shops but the selection was older goods. i.e it was a bit like what you would fine in TX Maxx but all sorted by brand.
worth a trip though, you could get lucky...

That's exactly what an outlet store is!

I live 2 mins from it so its handy - here's a quick resume.

    Clarks - Crap

Kitchen Store - good prices on high end Lagostina cookware & tefal.

Levi's - Some great bargains in imperfects €30 - regular styles about 30% cheaper than dublin

Petite Bateau Childrens Store - reasonable discounts (high quality clothing though)

NIKE - Very good extra discounts some weeks e.g. 2nd pair 1/2 price.

Molton Brown - 30% - 40% off (women love their stuff.

    CK Underwear - Boxers 2 for €30

CK Jeans - closing current store so stock very limited. Moving to much bigger store in Feb.

Tog 24 - outdoor store. Discounts not great.

Coast / Karen Millen / Monsoon - Coast are best followed by Monsoon. Karen Millen stock is tired. Discount good in all 3.

Italian mens store - excellent! esp if you like Cerutti & Valentino - 50 - 60% doiscount regularly on everyday stock such as suits, shirts, jackets etc.

Quicksilver - good discounts and most merchandise is current season.

Pepe - good discounts regular stock

Regine Ladies - High price product reasonable discounts - for age 40+

LK Bennet shoe - Absolutely fab quality ladies shoes regular stock 35% off retail.

    Villeroy & Boch - Disapointing

Reebok - Small enough shop but quite good selection & discounts.

Cafe Coton - Mens shirts shop from France - 3 shirts for €100 excellent quality. 100% coton.

Radley Bags - excellent bags good discounts av. 40%

Le Crueset - all regular lines 30 - 40% discount.

    Sunglass place - not great.

Starbucks - Great coffee - hate the queues.

Dunne & Crezini - Fab lunches, well priced and very nice house wine.

Rumor has it Ralph Lauren & Tommy will be opening soon.

To make a day of it take a trip to the national stud - amazing place especially in Late Feb / early March when all the foals are born. Free shuttle bus from train station to outlets & stud every 30min.

As for Rathdowney - don't discount it - Arthur Glen (largest outlet operator in UK) have bought it out so you will see it filled up again soon.

Yep, that's pretty much the motto in Rathdowney :D
Their Canterbury shop is the most overpriced place I've ever been !

That's interesting about MacArther Glen buying out Rathdowney, I have never been but I might pop down if I hear some good reports, would be looking for adidas trainers as Macarthur Glen operate a few adidas outlets in the UK, or so I'm led to believe. This Kildare place doesn't sound very impressive.

I just don't get the whole brand thing - especially for children's wear. As far as I'm concerned €52 for an outfit for a baby girl is not a bargain - it's a rip-off. If it's an overpriced brand then it's just branding the child - double ripoff.

    Penney's and Dunnes FTW.

Exactly, I mean the child will grow out of it in less than 6 months anyway....There is a good value kids shop in Rathdowney, some danish brand i think but can't remember the name!

The children's place in rathdowney closed last October.

Monsoon have a reasonable range of kids clothing at the back of the store in Kildare - got a cool jacket for €16 for the godchild at xmas.

Petite Bateau is ex[ensive but the stuff is excellent - handy for pressies. (I don't have kids yet, but when I do it will be Dunné Boutique for most items)

Clarks is great for kids shoes (€28 as opposed to €40 + in town).

Would agree with a previous poster about branded cloths for kids but when it comes to shoes you can't take chances.

The village is worth a look. Wan never impressed with Rathdowny but may have a look again if it has changed management.

Was in arnotts today, sale must be winding down as the 50% signs are up now, a few days ago was 30%. The sizes are very hit and miss. Nuttin for me there. Also most shoe sales I looked at were terrible - dodgey dodgey gear in silly sizes. All the regular stuff was 'regular' prices.
