    Hi,
I'm thinkin of getting a bigger (~130GB) hard drive for my inspiron 6000.. On the dell support website it says its the IDE interface, is this the same as IDE ATA ? I am looking at komplett for them but they only have Samsung or Hitatchi.. Are these makes any good? What other sites can I get a better selection if these aren't any good?

Also what is the best enclosure to put my existing 40GB 2.5" internal into? If its going to be connected to the laptop via USB will I have any problems booting the Linux(Ubunut/Knoppix) on it??

    Thanks..

    Hakko

ATA is just an extension of IDE, I think. As long as the drive is 2.5", then it should fit okay.

if you're going to get an eclosure for the old hard drive why replace the old one??? you could get a failry sizeable external hard drive for resonable money and it would save you reinstalling the operating system also.
I know reinstalling isnt a big deal but when you could get something like
    this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=318906

for in or around the same money, makes sense if all you want is more storage space.

    Edit
Dab.ie is a good enough , i got a 500gb mybook €25 cheaper than its counterpart in Komplett
there just B4 xmas, they are not always cheaper but worth checking. It pays to shop around.
