Hi, I am fed up with skyp enot working in halls, everyone I've talked to can't get it to work, unlike last year any ideas on how to set ip up properly, this from the is services website doesn't seem to work
    * Select Connection and configure as shown below
    * Enter ‘443’ for 'Use port ? for incoming connections'
    * Untick the box beside ‘Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections’
    * Select HTTPS from the dropdown list
    * Select tcdproxy.tcd.ie and port 8080 as the host and port
    * Tick ‘ enable proxy authentication’
    * Enter your web access user name and password (Note: this is the same username and password that you use to log onto the College network)
    * If connection cannot be achieved at first please close and relaunch Skype. You may have to do this multiple times before achieving connection.

I am using skype version 3.0.0.198

Mine sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It's really annoying. Closing and relaunching doesn't work either.

Stupid question - have you contacted ISS?

Me? I went in, and the guy was totally unhelpful. He said it wasn't an ISS problem and they aren't obliged to make Skype work for us. Hmph.

We should have a skype conference call and we can discuss the relative merits of our day.

It would appear that the routing from halls is a bit messed up tbh. also, i'd go into iss and point out that while they may state that they do not support skype, that they also intend to monitor skype usage for security reasons, and as such its in their best interests to ensure that users make sure its set up correctly.
