    They're both DVI
The strange thing is the cheaper E207WFP is a 5ms response time where as the more expensive ultrasharp 2007WFP is 16ms response time.. Weird!

dunno, a mate that works in dell says the ultrasharp is the only dvi! see it in the specs there tho ???

i notice tho that the 207 doesnt say the responce time is black to white as specified in the 2007

The lack of a USB hub and composite and S-Video ports, seem to be the main differernce between the two.

They also have differnt types of panel:

    Dell 2007WFP = MVA or S-IPS panel.
    Del 207WFP = TN panel.

    TN = 16.2 Million colours
    MVA I-SPS = 16.7 Million colours.

    Read the panel thing here:

Don't know anything about panels myself

I know its not much but it comes with a separate speaker setup you mount below the monitor, pretty basis and adds about an inch of space, I got this monitor before Xmas and use mosting for surfing and gaming and no issue, good resolution and no ghosting/lag with the likes of FEAR and NL2 on full spec - graphics card dependant of course

The cheaper Dell one does not appear to be up to much at all.

So the dearer one in Dell it cant be worth the extra over the samsung just posted Can it?

And now to add further discussion anyone any experience with this make?
Seems great value with good specs

If you had read previous posts in this thread on page 1 or done a google search for e207wfp vs 2007wfp then you would know there are significant differences between the two monitors. Mainly that the 2007wfp uses and much higher quality panel, 8bit as opposed to 6bit on the e207wfp. Also extra connections on the 2007wfp and overall build quality. The 'e' stands for economy btw.

Cheers i have read and searched.

A search is showing serious problems among users in huge numbers of bandinw with this new model. I search for the Samsung I hear about backlight bleeding.

Im an LCD newb but it really amazes me when the pictures are so good on CRt we are losing quality with LCDs.

Also as a newb how is a 16ms response time for watching an action dvd etc.

Anyone get one of these Dells and have a problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,067 ✭✭✭youcancallmeal

Most of the people who complain about banding and backlight bleed are veteran LCD users who would pick up on the these issues straight away. To be honest I had to go searching for pictures to understand what these are. I got 2 Dell 2004WFP's last week and must say I'm very happy indeed. Havent noticed any Banding, Backlight Bleed or Ghosting. I think the 16ms quoted for the Dell2007WFP is worst case scenario and in fact it is actually g2g which would make a big difference in preventing ghosting.

To be honest though I havent had any issues with my Dells. At the end of the day if you havent used a widescreen LCD before you'll be grand with a 22/20" Samsung.

See pic here of my setup :D

Thanks for the reply. I dont want to be annoying but to me these prices are a lot of money so I want to be sure.
Also at the same time I want a good one so will pay for the extra will want it to last the full 3 years in good shape.

Basically with a large family one tv and the only programmes I watch are from American stations this will be like my main tv for me.

So would there be a difference between this and the Samsung for displaying standard media. The difference between my current TFT and my old CRT is huge with the CRt much better so I want something good this time.

Thanks a lot for your replies.

PS did you mean you got 2 2007WFPs or have you got a different model

    Also impressive looking set up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,067 ✭✭✭youcancallmeal

    Yea its two Dell 2007WFP's
Friend of mine works for dell so I got a few extra euro off the already reduced price. Probably would of just got some samsungs if there hadn't been such a discount. I previously had a 19" Samsung monitor which was grand for watching TV and movies so I reckon your best off going with what you can afford. I presume most monitors will come with a warranty anyway
