    Hi
I've a pc at home, and an old laptop, and an Ext HDD

I use excel/windows alot for my own stuff like accounts, classes I am taking and classes I give.

Because of my work hours etc I often had to amend files during lunch, or at work to access the printer - so I ended up with several versions of many files. These I then all saved on one ext hard drive but indifferent folders depending if the were from zip disks, pen drive, the laptop etc

Is there a utility that will compare files by nae, / size etc so I could see duplicates and delete them to clear some place and find stuff easier
( I promise to get into habit of synchronising stuff in future :) )

The find utility in windows explorer will let you sort by date and size and so on. Is that a bit too simple?

    a bit too simple

only becuase there are hundreds of files duplicated, i don't want to search for them all individually

i had a utility on one of those free cds with PC Utilities mag (??) but can't locate that now !!

Edit: found it, called NoClone , will give it a go anyways

i've used spaceman for this in the past ... it finds duplicate files based on more than just filename, it looks at size, type and content (to a limited extent) ...

it worked well for me ... dealing with duplicate mp3 and jpg files

there is a free 30 day trial -> linkeh http://www.extrabit.com/spaceman99/
