CSS Error when playing certain dvd's

Recently got Family Guy Season 2 DVD for Christmas and I have been having a lot of trouble playing it on my laptop.
In Nero it may play for one episode then the drive makes a load of noise as if its searching for a file and an error similar to "...playback is impossible... CSS error".Nero then closes down

It will just about play in WMP but there is way too much stalling and noise to even enjoy the episode.

Any ideas? This is the first time it has happened.

What region is the disc? CSS errors relate to copy protection that is on the disc. Try using VLC Media player to play it and see if it makes any difference.

Tried VLC once but it just skips past the parts it cannot read often jumping complete episodes.
Its region two (I presume as my girlfriend probably bought it in HMV or the like)

I watched Band of Brothers last night with no problems. Incidently, my sister watched the Family Guy DVDs' on our old computers' dvd player with no problems.
