    Hello all,

I just have a quick question. I am going to get (hopefully) an aprilia rs250 which is group 10 with AON.
I currently have a provissional licence but should have my full licience as soon as the test comes around. I am also 25 years old and live in the country.
Will carole nash/AON insure me on this? Or would a lower group bike be the more sensible route to take.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, legally they have to provide you with a quote.

Yes. I don't know if they come in Factory Restricted guise, because you do know that you are limited to 25kw for your provisional years and first two years of full licence.

I would ring them both up and ask for a quote. While dialing the number either be sitting down with a friend/relative beside you with the emergency numbers at hand so that hopefully the heart attack does not cause too many complications, or be bending over touching your toes and be prepared to be ridden (more than any other bike).

To be honest, those RS's are expensive to run too. And if you are getting a group 10 bike, why not just buy an R6/zx6r/CBR? They are probably cheaper to insure :)

Depends on your idea of cheap insurance. With a full licence, AON will insure you, and it probably won't cost you very much at all (600-900 region at a guess if you have a few years NCB)
Carole nash probably won't match that but do ring both.
As far as the bike goes, mate had one, very nice looking bikes. Definetly not for daily use, beyond the fact its a 250 stroker, its not designed for the bumpy wrecked roads. Weekend weapon, probably as good as it gets, if you intend on using it daily, i'd go for something else.

    Thanks for that.

Will give them both a ring. Thanks for the advise nereid, will get prepaired for the onslaught.
I am limited to a 400cc group 6 (group 7 with full licence) or less for two years. Can you get say an R6 and limit it so that insurance is cheaper/possible?

Had an aprilia 125 when I was younger and always loved the 250. Have no NCB in Ireland so am starting from scratch. Kinda sucks. So maybe should start looking into getting a CBR 250 for starters.

Maybe not an R1, but you can definitely get a ZX6R Factory restricted.

I have a FR Suzuki SV650 (group 5) which I can sell as my licence restriction period is up.
