Sky+ with video sender?

I'm thinking of getting Sky+ but want to minimise the amount of visible wiring - two toddlers like wiring! Am I correct in thinking the following:

    1. Sky+ needs 2 cables running to it - if so whats the chances that the installer will throw the cables over the roof from the back of the house where the dish is located to the front where the TV is? I'm sure I had this done years ago in another house. The dish is already there from a previous owner who had Sky.

    2. I can use one of those DECT Wireless Phone Line Extenderl for the phone connection to the Sky+ box. See here for details: http://www.sendit.com/accessories/item/5000000001009 , I also have eircom Broadband so is the "Compatible with Sky TV but not ADSL broadband." of any relevance? Do I really need the phone line connected permanently?

    3. I can use a video sender to send the Sky+ output to another TV upstairs?

    4. I can record one channel on the Sky+ box while watching another via the video sender upstairs?

    Advice much appreciated.

    1. The installer is obliged to run an extra cable from your dish if it isnt already there. Just that he wont drill through a cavity wall. Id recommend buying your own cable and making the run yourself, just get him to terminate connections if you arent familiar with it

    2. Yes unfortunately for Sky+ you'll need your phone line connected permanently. They either phone the box or the box phones out periodically (cant remember which one). They use this so people cant move around boxes between houses and other reasons.

    3. You sure can

    4. Yes the Sky+ box can record one channel and you can view any other channel you want. You can even record one channel and also simultaneously record the channel you are looking at, at the same time.

    Hope this helps.

The Sky+ box does not need to be connected to phoneline permanently. It may be part of the T&C if you're getting a subsidised install and system. But the terms are only for 12 months in this case, you may remove the line after that (or before that if you're not bothered about Sky's T&C :)) Sky+ will work grand without a phoneline.

The one case where a line must be connected permanently, is for Sky Multiroom, so Sky can ensure both boxes are in the same dwelling.
