Wii Points are just absurdly overpriced, most of these games are costing you like 8 euro. There's a reason they put in the Wii points system besides making it the same for people everywhere.

is there any news on star points being made into wii points? Ive 300 of those useless beggars.

a 0 went amiss, it should have been 3000. :D

I got most of them by going through my gc and ds games the other day. Found the leaflet in my gc box too.

I think Nintendo are going to have to rethink the pricing structure of the Virtual Console games if they seriously want to make a go of it (maybe they don't).

Perhaps offering a bulk system or something, similar to the "Collections" releases by people like Sega.

One would think that Nintendo's main market for the VC is Retrogamers interested in collecting a lot of great games from the past, rather than someone would make a few choice purchases a year. Most of these people will know about unoffical emulation, and probably know where to get ROMs for old games.

At the moment anyone with a PC or a modded Xbox can get hundreds of old acrade, MegaDrive and NES/SNES games off the internet for virtually nothing. There was a guy in my last job who had 5 DVDs worth of ROMS, which included pretty much every Nintendo game ever released, from the arcade up to the N64.

Of course it is on dubious legal ground, but ¬8 for each 15 year old Megadrive game is not going to make someone drop their PC Sega emulator in a hurry.

Currently, at the cheapest off the internet price, it would cost ¬232 to purchase every European released Wii VC game. And that is only 35 games. For a community that is based around the idea of collecting and playing as many classic games as possible that is ridiculous.

I put 50 euro in and just snagged all the good games. But your correct I won't be putting any more points in at the current price based on what I got.

I just checked and I have 11,275 stars! They have never had anything worth getting when I checked the stars catalogue, the amount of times I checked it and they had just sold out of something cool was just depressing so the fact that I might be able to use them to get virtual console games is a great idea!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 978 ✭✭✭AceCard Jones

You can be quite sure that Nintendo will milk us for all we are worth on terms of buying points before they allow us to use our stars in exchange for them.
And I completely agree that every game in the collection is over priced.
I already own half of them, their original copies and the ROM.
So I don't see why I could be under any state of mind to waste money or indeed points on them. They better get their fingers out of their arses soon and get some Rare titles out there.I don't care if it's legal or not anymore!!

Oh and did anyone else hear that the two leaders of Rare have left?
The two of them are brothers I believe.
Woke up and smelt the Wii and went back to Nintendo I would guess.:D

    Oh and 20,420 stars.:p

Holy crap, I thought I had a ridiculous amount of stars, that's crazy, you must have every single nintendo game released since they started using the stars!

    Oh, didn't know that!
I think I have something like 2,600 or so; mainly from my DS and games (plus the odd GC game and my Wii, but most of my GC stuff was PO)

We already have these, so maybe we'll get... nothing! The Japanese are getting Kid Icarus, Ice Climbers and Mario Kart 64 this month :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Mario Kart 64, damn to them, i want a mario kart game, any mario kart game will do.

Is there one planned for the wii? surely they will bring one out, whats a nintendo console without a mario kart game?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 978 ✭✭✭AceCard Jones

I'm quite confident that we will get a Wii version of Mario Kart.
And I have only logged into the site a few times, I got my stars mostly from products.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

well before they attempt to release mario kart on the wii they need to seriously look back at double dash and say "what were we thinking". and also not to implement tilt functions as bad as the cow racing game in wii play which is supposedly meant to showcase the controllers ability. (it does so for everything, bar the cow racing game which i found diabotical.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 978 ✭✭✭AceCard Jones

What was wrong with Double Dash?
That was probably my favourite of them all...
The amount of hours play me and my friends have had on that is unreal.
The weapons were great the courses were great, I really liked that game.
They could have expanded slightly on car stats, but that takes away from the usual simplicity of Mario Kart.

    Kid Icarus? God, I want.

terrible maps, and the non ability to hop took out two of the most fun elements of the game in my opinion

I'd expect them to model it after Mario Kart DS rather than Double Dash.

You didn't like the tracks?I thought there were some really good courses in that game. And by hopping do you mean when you press R in all the previous games?
True you don't hop anymore when you press it but you still skid using it which is the only reason I ever pressed R,But then again it's just our separate opinions there isn't really much I can say to change your mind at this stage.:D

Yey Mario! And it looks so much better than emulators. Like it did on the nes originally. Am I the only one who liked the pal borders on eu games?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,894 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

Didnt know super castlevania 4 was up over here. just saw it there. May get that.

saying that.... I probably wont buy anything until zombies ate my neighbours comes up .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 978 ✭✭✭AceCard Jones

^^Ahh Zombies, that was an excellent game. And really long for a game of it's age.Took me months to finish it.I have a copy of it on the Sega as well as a ROM.Get's really annoying on terms of hard once you reach Level 40.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

This wiik we get Motoroader for the turbografx, and Super Mario Bros for the NES.

    Thats it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,810 ✭✭✭DRakE

Fo real? No foolies? Really want Super Mario Bros.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭djkeogh

Super Mario eh? Might be worth pulling that down. I'm eager for Zombies myself. What a great game that was. Having said all that I still haven't played any of the 3 VC games I've downloaded yet due to commitments in the land of Hyrule.

Nice one I've been looking forward to Super Mario Brothers, it's about time:)

Just remembered a game last night that I'd love. Think it was called "Haunting", was on the Mega Drive. You were this little green dude who had to haunt a family.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,326 ✭✭✭Zapp Brannigan

If and when Zombies comes along I'll definitely be shelling out for it. Loved that game, though I never completed it!

Does anyone remember that Megadrive beat em up where the characters came from different times or something? I can barely remember it, but it was popular for a while. Not much hints here, i know but....

Or even that SNES beat em up that came along later, where the characters had loads of weapons, like swords and that? I think they had finishing moves too...

I think the first one is Eternal Champions. Decent enough fighter.

The last one is a little vague. It could be the awful conversion of Samurai Showdown or Namcos excellent Weapon Lord.

I heard the VC version of Super Mario Bros. is a little wonky. It's the second PAL release that was speed up to try and match the NTSC versions. Nintendo made a bit of a ham of it but it's supposedly still playable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Kanney

Super Mario Bros rocks. Just bought it there and played 4 or 5 levels. Loving it, finally getting back to the greats. I hope they bring out Time Lord/Turtles/Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter etc. is there a new update every week? Every friday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 978 ✭✭✭AceCard Jones

Yeah Kanney they update it every week.
Nothing has really jumped out at me yet as anything that's good in the list I have already.I bought Mario 64 but that's it, and I even have that twice already.Still have 3000 Wii points to spend......

Yeah, Weaponlord! That's the fella. Haven't played it in years, but i'd sure like a shot of it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weaponlord

And yep, it is Eternal Champions too:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_Champions

Jaysus, i'd love a shot of that too.

Thanks Retrogamer, i'd never have remembered the names.

Now, i wonder will we see either of these on VC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Apparently MK will be coming to the VC, just a matter of when!

Would be great if they waited till the online was sorted, and give us a great a conversion of UMK3 as they did for the 360!

Titles I've downloaded so far: Bomberman '93, DKC, Gunstar Heros and Super Castlevania IV.

Pity the MK series is complete gash. Give us Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo!

Anyone know what's out today? I can't seem to find it mentioned online for some reason.

I don't suppose Duck Hunt is there as part of Super Mario Brothers by any chance is it? That adapted to the Wiimote would be the business!

Just the one. The damning thing is that PS3 owners of ridge racer 7 get it free as the loading screen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,026 ✭✭✭✭adox

Downloaded my first game tonight -Mario 64:D

I was quite surprised at how quickly it downloaded.I`d say it only took around a minute.

I ordered with my cc after visiting Game today only to find that they were charging more for wii points than ordering yourself online.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Kanney

Meh, I got 4,000 for Xmas. Had 2000 from the day I bought it.
