godaddy.com are generally the cheapest and safest, i.e. no small print. I picked up a .info domain for $1.99 last week. .coms are $8.99 I think.

I'll beat both of your prices with domains for $1.95 from Globat: http://www.globat.com/products/domainonly.htm ($8.95/year after the first year) I use them they're alright, sometimes changing settings online doesn't always work, so I email them. I've read their terms and conditions they seem to be similar to all the other domain name providers.

If you still want GoDaddy for $2 off ($6.95) just Google cheap domain names and click the sponsored GoDaddy link to get $2 off instantly, or just click here: https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.asp?isc=goox3005at&se=%2B&ci=7010

Be careful with Globat. I'm not sure about domains, but they're hosting packages have many strings attached, and their customer service is sub-par. They seem to be unable to bill correctly (sometimes they'd refuse valid details, other times they'd charge twice). They're also don't seem to be able to renew domains on time (I renewed two separate accounts with about a week until the deadline, and yet they failed to renew the domain, leaving one of those annoying ad pages in their place; one domain remained unpaid for about a week).

Pay the extra few dollars, Globat just aren't worth it.

Ugh Globat are doing my head in right now. One minute the domain goes to my page and then the next it goes back to that annoying advertisement page.
Yahoo where doing a good offer last week dunno if they still are $1.98/first year for first customers.

Drat!! Down but not out. I'll have to play dirty. I'll see your Microsoft Office Live free and raise you with oldest trick on the bargain boards; the old but it's not available in Republic of Ireland trump card. Microsoft Office Live is only available in the US and UK.

I have been using godaddy.com for years now, find them very good. It is easy to find discounts codes for godaddy on google. :)
