Comag SL55 receiver - Password Reset

    Hi,

After downloading channel data into my Comag SL55 using STB5518 I realised that this changed my password from the default one.
Now I can't get into the menus at all.

I tried reloading the original SL55 data I previously uploaded and new firmware but with no success.
I also tried to hard reset the receiver by holding the power button while switching the receiver on. All I get on the display is a flashing "A" and then "LOAd" for a few minutes but nothing seems to happen.

Any help you can offer to reset the password is very much appreciated.

    Thank you for your help.

You may have to reload the firmware again. Its available from the comag site http://www.comag-ag.de/engl/en_home.html. Then use the buttons on stb to go into menu ... STB Setting ... Other Setting and check that RCU Mode is set to RCU4. If not you will need to change it to get the remote control working again.

The flashing A and Reload sounds more like the capacitor burn out problem , they burn because the STB runs so hot . There is a thread on this but I cant find it now .

    Last,
I have tried to reload the firmware using STB5518 but nothing seems to happen.
Is it because the password is no longer the default 0000 password that it is not letting me reload the firmware or channel list?

    Thanks

    pjq,

If the capacitators have burnt out, will the receiver still function?

    Thanks

dont bother with load A option
turn on the box ...wait a few moments..then put into standby and load the software...when finished use front panel to go into stb settings and choose rcu4 and then the remote should work.

    Thank you all.
Obviously what I was not aware off is that the receiver needs to be in standby mode to be able to reload the firmware.
I've reloaded the firmware while the "LOAd A" was flashing and the receiver is now working fine.

    Again thank you.

Anyone know any details of the capacitor burnout problem? I think the psu in mine is damaged. It is behaving quite erratically.

Another default password used on some machines is 1234.

Dont know much about the SL55 other than rumours pertaining to unreliability.
Came across a new site under construction which has some p/s circuit info that may be of use

If you dont want to bother doing the repair yourself I believe Zintek in Tallaght www.zintek.tv are agents for repair. They quoted me €25.
