    Bridgestone Muay Thai New Gym.

Hi All, and Happy New Year.

Bridgestone Muay Thai Gym will be reopening at their new premises this coming Tuesday 9th January. The new gym has a full size boxing ring, 1,000 sq.ft of tatami matted area and 9 permanent punchbags (that wont have to be taken down everytime there is mere than 10 people in class) and a larger changing room and even one for the ladies so they wont have to get changed in the Loo any more:rolleyes: . The new gym address is 11 Arbour Place, Stonybatter, Dublin 7. Directions and map will be up on website hopefully in the next 24hours. Below are some basic directions.

The new Gym is located at the side of 11 Abour Place, off Stoneybatter, Dublin 7.

If you are coming from the Quays you come up Blackhall Place, into Stonybatter and The Glimmerman Pub is on your right, the next left is Abour Place (there is a Londis shop on the corner). The gym is located half way up on your right behind large blue railing gates.

If you are coming from the North Circular Road take the turn for Prussia Street and travel down into Stonybatter and Londis is on the right on the corner of Arbour Place.

The nearest Luas stop is the Smithfield stop which is just a 5 minute walk to Arbour Place. (see map)

Streets close buy are North King St., Brunswick St. North, Manor Street.
If any problems ring Paul 087 2591425

    Regards,
    Paul.

I was born and bred around the corner! Best of luck with it Paul. Also buses from town the 37 and 39 and 70 (i think) stop right at the Londis and the same coming from Blanch or Castleknock directions.

Just a wee point that turn off stoneybatter up Arbour Place is one way in the other direction, so you have to go up Arbour Hill pass the chipper and swing right, adds about 2 seconds onto your journey!

I'm really looking forward to starting in the new gym. Best of luck with it Paul.

It'd definitely handier for me to get to (I work beside the Guinness brewery, so the smithfield luas stop is only around 10 minutes away).

Are there classes on in the old gym tomorrow?

    Hi ,

Thanks for the good wishes lads. Sorry Khannie being an old man I aint too quick at surfing and wife dont like me spending time on computer after so much time spent at gym:( so my reply is a little late but no we will not be training in old gym again but will be starting usual times from Tuesday 9th Jan as said in the new gym in Arbour Place.

Foot work please see present times and prices below but unfortunatly due to moving to a bigger premises and increased rent plus spending a lot of money on ring, mats etc. we will be raising class prices from 6 euro to 7 euro from February 1st, 2007 and monthly rate from 60 to 65 euro for full month. I think people will appreciate the extra facilities with the same old committment to simple hard training is worth the extra euro. The gym will still be run on a non profit making basis but running costs and investment via loans has made this increase neccessary unfortunatly.

    TRAINING TIMES
The Bridgestone Gym trains 5 times a week at the following times.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7.00 – 8.15pm Beginners
    8.15 – 10.00pm Fighters

    Saturday 3.00–5.00pm Fighters

    CLASS FEES
    6 euro a class or 60 euro a month
(from Feb 1st increase to 7 euro a class or 65 euro a month)

    Regards,
    Paul.

No worries on the delay Paul. :) I was pretty sure it wasn't on anyway.

For what it's worth, I'm not even slightly bothered by the 1 euro increase. The class will still be great value.

    Bridgestone Muay Thai New Gym.

Bridgestone Muay Thai Gym will be reopening at their new premises this coming Tuesday 9th January.

    Hi Paul,

Even though I had read your post a few times and you made it very clear concerning the start date, I still ended up rattling the gates at 7pm last night thinking I must have the wrong place. What made it worse I forgot to print out the directions and felt that I was in the wrong place. So I went for a walk around the "Corner" and ended up getting lost. :o

At 7.30 I ended up in Parkgate street thinking wtf,,, I eventually managed the get back to the Londis shop and went to the internet cafe opposite to check your post again and when I arrived again at 7.45pm the gates were open and Owen and another familiar face were doing some work. I felt like a right tit when they said that class starts the following night but at least I got to see the new gym before anyone else.

I have to say, it looks great. ;):D

The ring looks great and as you said you can now start to work more on ringcraft. The mats look great and hopefully will save the soles of my soft feet.

A little note for anyone who is driving. Arbour place is a one way street which you cannot get to from Manor Street so take the turn before it (coming from the quays) and then swing a right. Also there is free parking in front of houses after 7pm.

    Good luck tonight. :)

    Hi Michael,

You wernt the only one as I know I said that I hoped to start back 5th Jan but as always delayed but happily finaly opened tonight with 40 in the beginners class alone:eek: but luckily I had plenty of help with Andy, Eoghan and Niall helping with the new faces. At least the bigger place can cater for the increase in numbers so all went well. So made sure to work off some of that turkey etc. that every one overindulged in over xmas.

So all classes now back to normal from today so will see you at a future class. At least you know your way around Arbour hill area:p

    Regards,
    Paul.

Are you sure you didn't get lost at all, but decided to go window shopping? :D:p (anyone who knows the area will get it!)

    Hi Paul,

Good luck with the new club,i was only there for about 6 months but enjoyed every class,i would recomend this club to anyone who is thinking of training muai thai,
Id love to continue training there but the distance and family commitments rule this out because if i train i want to fight and to fight you need to train at least 3-4 days on top of your own training.
Im going to try get out to the new gym and do a session if i get a chance,
