For those that have seen it, is there a large focus on battle scenes or is it mainly the aftermath? I've no problem with it either way, but just wondering before I go and see it what exactly I should be expecting.

The main narrative takes place after the battle of Iwo Jima. As the characters go about being toured, they flashback to the battles. The battle scenes (as in those scenes with bullets flying around), strung together, would make up a full twenty minutes or so.

Great film, the scenes in America have a much stronger anti-war impact than the scenes on the island though, which was a little strange.

Yeah, just back from it now. Excellent film, much better then I had even anticipated. Cannot wait now for Letters from Iwo Jima.
