Really looking forward to this; the preview in the Guardian today was really positive, said that it's lively and the characters have all moved on, so it doesn't just try to relive the glory days. Hope it lives up to the hype...

    Am watching now........

Must say it's more than a tad like "Peter's Friends".

    However I'm loving the soundtrack!

Will wait til it's finished before I make my mind up on what I think
    overall.

Didn't think it was that good at all???

Maybe, I'm trying to hard to remember what was happening 10 years ago. I thinks it more the fact that I was 17/18 when I used to watch it and looked up to the character's, now I'm 28 and can see that it's just a mixed group of pretentious prats & self induldgent knob's.

    Each to their own...

The best line in the whole show was; Claire-
"Making documenteries about ****ed up metrosexuals was not what I wanted to do with my life"
And she's not even on of the main characters.

Given that the original was formulaic drivel I can't see this one getting any better. Unless a solicitor-killing loony is on the rampage forcing egg and all the other twats to hole up for safety in their enormous Georgian pile and sit around smoking fags and venting their existential angst - before the door is broken down by the aforementioned loony who proceeds to off all these parasitical vermin in increasingly inventive and sickening ways. In which case it would get two thumbs up from me.

It was good, but not incredible. Bit too forced.

wasnt worth the 10 year wait!

didn't work for me at all. too many cliches and nonsensical rambling.

Very average 80 minutes after such a bit build up.
    Far too dreary and downbeat.
The whole reality camera subplot was a mistake and should have been left out.
Why has Egg's book only just come out ?
Did it take him 10 years to write it ? Seemed a bit strange.
They should have just had a reunion for Ferdy's funeral and left the whole camera surveilance plot out.
Its always hard to come back after such a long break though.

I cannot believe how bad that was. Absolute rubbish and I really enjoyed the original show.

Yeah, got to say that was a bit of a disappointment unfortunately, after looking forward to it for a couple of weeks.. There didn't really seem to be any flow to the plot, and the dramatic elements felt botched (lots of shouting + long silences does not automatically equal high drama). Too many "2000s references" thrown in there to ram home the point that it's not the 1990s any more (like the Iraq war argument, the iPods everywhere, etc) and I agree that the reality TV thing was wholly unecessary. Just didn't seem like it had any of the sublety or realism of the old series, which is what I feared they might lose in an attempt to make a film-length episode. It's a pity that the script let it down, because the actors seemed like they could reprise their old roles pretty well.

Joined this about 20 minutes in so I was completely confused. What I saw was pretty much as everyone said, so I spent 40 minutes waiting for the reality TV camera girl to get her kit off....

It wasn't as bad as it could have been, but yes the filming sub-plot was completely unessecary. Quite surprising how comfortable the actors seemed in their roles though, which made up for some of the defects. As last hurrah's go, I've seen worse.

I enjoyed it, I was a 20 something in the mid 90's and loved the original series. A one off spesh is grand but you wouldnt want a full series.

    Did anyone notice that when
Anna came down stairs in the morning after shagging Miles, someone asked how Miles was and sang "love is in the air", which was the same song that was playing at the wedding, when Millie punched that girl from the office.

Also Reef's "put your hands up" was playing on the stereo, there was a scene in the first series where Egg was cooking and singing along to that song.

I didn't realise it had been 10 years I'm 24 so must have been only 13/14 watching it first time out  and loved it. It must have been on saturday nights because I usually used to babysit in those days and didn't have my parents controlling what I could/couldn't watch. My boyfriend is 30 and had never heard of it, he obviously had better things to do back then.

Anyway, I thought it was so bad I switched over to Desperate Housewives and missed the last 45 minutes

watched THIS LIFE 10 yrs on last night
having seen a review of it a few weeks ago on the cultural show late review on bbc2
i was,nt expecting too much , the culture vultures on late review were right
the only reason they made this show was to chat about the internet and the i-pod
the iraq war arguement blew up out of nothing , and everything else about it was forced too
i agree with the earlier comment that the best line of the show was from the girl doing the filming , making docus about ****** up metrosexuals was not what i wanted to do with my life
while in thier mid 20,s theese people seemed hip and trendy
we can see now that thier all really unhappy and empty people
dont get me wrong , i really liked the show back in the day but it was definatly a show of its time , it had a quintesentially 90,s feel about it
the way it showed a group of young middle class people whos only priority was getting ahead in thier career and getting stoned while always ready to get a lay
well nowadays , that behaviour is the norm, its old hat
oh and it was good to see that the vil anna was miserable too

Didn't think too much of it - a poor relation to "The Big Chill" - seemed to borrow most of it's story lines

    Quite liked the original series.

Thought the rehash of it was awful though. I turned it off half way though.

Loved the original series. Thought the "10 years on" episode started well enough. They all looked well and seemed to have moved on. It just didn't last the pace, by the end there was far too much running from set to set shouting "has anyone seen Miles, Warren,Millie......"
By the end I really didn't give a s*** what happened to any of them.
