As of this morning Bravo are showing the original series of BSG week mornings at 10. Just happened to catch Saga of a Star World part one by pure fluke on the +1 at 11.

Repeated in the evenings at 6 & 7pm

Is it worth watching though? Considering a large amount of viewers never saw the original version.

To my mind, going back... in terms of effects, casting and recording would be silly. However if I had watched the original series before and then the new one then I could have enjoyed both.

I know there are some plot differences. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

So far, yeah a good few differences - but it was pretty fun to see where they borrowed as well, both plotwise and stylistically. I'll be sticking with the original as long as I can, just to see how it goes.

Aye, there are several plot elements lifted from this.

But otherwise its like comparing chalk and cheese. And this is definitely full of cheese ;)

The opener Saga of a Star World and double eps featuring the Pegasus are the only ones really worth watching.

Lets hope they only show the first series and not the 1980 extension which was awful

I seem to dimly remember one called "Gun on Ice Planet 9" or something similar that was OK.
