Rockchic guitar exhibition

It's a bit of a let down. Very sterile experience. Doesn't really take into account any innovations of the last 30 years (double locking trems, active electronics, extended range apart from one **** 7 string, etc) and the 57 strat has a clumsy refret you'd be embarassed to see on a Chinese Epiphone. Rory's strat is clearly the highlight of the exhibition though it's inaccurately posted as being the "only guitar he ever played onstage" when there's a video just behind it showing him play his white Telecaster onstage which is also there. Then there's the 20 odd strats with "designer" artwork... which is just ****. Designed more with non-guitarists in mind, tbh.

It's ok, but could have been so much better.

It's worth seeing... just... but it's a big let down when you consider what it could have been. Wasted potential.

Just don't look at the 57 strat. You'll cry. Seriously. It's a sin.

Look at the neck through V they have though. It's not a Gibson but it is nice ;)

Cool to see Rory's real strat. That's how a guitar should look at the end of it's life - played to pieces.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed too - it was OK and I'm glad I went, as i wanted to see Tony Iommis guitar in particular. Sadly, there was sod all background info about the guitars, the 'arty' ones were simply a waste of space, and on the day I was there, all the PRS guitars were missing in action.

Laughed my head off at the heap that teenage kicks was apparently written on. Looks like it was reapinted with pink nail varnish by a blind monkey.

THeres some interesting custom stuff there, but overall there's very few guitars there considering the amount of them there are knocking around.
Anyway, go see it, but dont get too overexcited at the prospect.

    Aside:
There were also a lot of people the with sprogs who decided to just let them run riot around the place. wtf is that about, teach them some manners people. Meanwhile my sprog wants to run around and cant understand why she cant if all those other kids can.

Yeah, Tony Iommi's was cool. People can't look after their kids, simple as. Don't think much of the way the guitars were barely covered. Tempted to lift one :p

I went before Christmas and it was a wee let down, but its still worth spending half an hour looking at. And its FREE in.

Very little in the way of Les Pauls and the Steve Harris P-Bass is listed as his bass used on tour but there is no fret wear whatsoever, its just a replica. The people who posted the information were not living in reality.

But everone should go to see Rory's guitar its unreal!
