Where do you recommend to go for a summer holiday for a 4 and 1 year old in May/June?

Want an easy holiday with beach nearby, away from the clubbing crowd and young children's entertainment.

Thinking of Menorca - any resorts or other spots you have been to and would recommend?

We've brought our kids (now 8, 5 and 1) to the Algarve in Portugal several times. The weather in May June is perfect, sunny but not too hot for little ones.

Cabanas is very quiet if you want away from the nightclub scene. The resort has the usual pools, restaurants etc, and the beach is accessed by boat which the kids loved.

We went with Sunworld to various resorts in the Algarve three times so far and could not fault them. If you want to look around you can arrange car rental once you are there and it is very reasonable as far as I remember.

Mrs Billy & I brought our lad (who was 3 at the time) to Menorca for a week's hols. Stayed in Cala'n Forcat at the Oasis complex.
I have to say the apartment & complex was well run, very clean, etc. & the facilities (pool, bar, etc.) quite good.
There was also a good water park nearby & a small amusement park with bouncy slides, trampolines, a train ride, etc that was cracking for young kids.
There are also lots of facilities in the bars/restaurants geared towards kiddies.

    The downsides were:
    The beach was sh!te & almost non-existent.
The nearby town - Los Delphines - was full of British-themed bars & restaurants. E.g. The Jimmy Hill Bar, Churchill's Pub, Lineker's Bar etc.
The amount of beer-bellies & tattoos was incredible (& that was just the women!).
The food was generally crap & everything was served with McDonald's-type fries.

Apparently, Cala'n Bosch (south of Ciutadella) is quite nice. More upmarket than Cala'n Forcat/Los Delphines.

We took our 1 yr old to the San Remo Region - its kinda north west Italy, just over the border from France. It was a cheap short direct flight into Nice & then a 40 minute air conditioned coach to the resort.

We went late may, early June & it was fabulous.

The weather was great - warm enough to really sit out and enjoy - decent tan, but mild enough to have our youngest in a playpen/cot outside under an umbrella. We found that all of the accommodation we looked at had playpens included - whcih gives you great flexibility.

It's fairly flat - very clean, good choice of restaurants & every one we went into made a fuss of our babe...we even had waiters walking the buggy round the restaurant so we could eat our meal in peace...god bless the Italian love of the family...

Cant remember who we went with, but we flew Dublin - Nice if thats any help.
