Im trying to put a cd onto my computer, but it wont let me. It wont even play the cd. In my computer the songs are on the disk as .cda files and have an IE icon on top of them too.

    Any ideas anyone?

What have you tried using to rip the CD? What have you tried to use to play the CD? Does the CD case mention any copy protection measures on it?

Ill just download the album sure.

How ironic, they thought they were smart copyrighting it and not allowing me put a genuine cd onto our pc so now im forced into getting an illegal version for my computer. :D

Not splitting hairs, but you've already said it's not your CD, so it's piracy anyway :)

Yes, these are just cda files. To actually get the files onto your computer, you can't just drag the cda files over. You must rip it onto your computer, and to save space, encode it into MP3 or OGG. You could use iTunes to do this as a very straight forward method.

I wasnt going to drag the files over,,, i was trying to use musicmatch jukebox to rip them??? I usually do this with cd`s. But musicmatch wont even recognise the cd in the drive?

the cd is my sisters boyfriends and he wants me to make a copy for my sister. I dont really care about piracy.

Obviously. But couple that with your above statement questioning the irony of having to 'illegally' download the cd, because you couldn't make an illegal copy of something you own, and it doesn't add up.

I hadnt said i was trying to make an illegal copy at that stage, i merely said i was trying to copy the cd to my computer.
Making such backups is legal isnt it once you own the cd. Anyway, who cares?

Is there a handy way to get the songs onto my pc or will i just start downloading.

Actually it's not in Ireland. Stupid copyright legislation.

Well, not I, but according to Irish law, you're only entitled to make one backup of the Data you own. So that one copy amounts to the mp3's on your computer. Copy these to your Mp3 player, and you've broken the law. Stupid eh?

Nuttzy, if you wish to continue using this forum, then kindly stop deleting your posts on this forum (- it makes the thread difficult to follow) and stop asking for advice on how to do something which is illegal (making a copy of someone elses CD, for example, IS illegal).

    Thread CLOSED.

    Thanks,
