    Hi,
Looking to buy a Digital Camera, I must have it by Tuesday so was hoping somebody could give me some recommendations on anywhere that is having a decent sale that I actually wont be ripped off if I buy one in Ireland as opposed to online, which I must if I need it by Tuesday!

Would prefer a known brand, Olympus, Canon or Fuji.

Has to be simple to use and preferably a big enough screen for playback of movies with sound that it can record:)

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Happy New Year:D

Haven't checked myself... but I remember hearing that Argos have some decent prices on cameras in their sale.

I heard that myself, but when I saw mention of the Argos sale, it was a pre-Christmas one, do they have a sale on now too?

I went in to Argos the other day. Got a Sony one that was €380 down to €180. And it's a really cool camera!

Cool, have you got a link to it or model number or anything? Do you reckon it's still that price? When did you get it?

Sony are generally easy to use too!

Have the box here. It's Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5.

Has 5.1 mg. The coolest thing is it has different flash settings. I hate when the flash is too bright!

Dunno if you're talking about the Sony DSC-T5 camera that was mentioned in an earlier thread... but if it is it looks like a great offer.

I did some research (well, I checked out steves-digicams). Seems like a good camera, only let down by its limited flash range. So if you plan on using it often for 'night-out pub/nightclub shots' I'd probably go for a different model. Otherwise it... well here's a link to 'Steves' conclusions.

    cool thanks for that:)

    Is this it here: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5602520.htm

It says it was £150, but the Irish stores say it was €380:confused:

Can it record video with sound do you know?

EDIT: MPEG movie VX fine with sound. (so that's a yes ;))

If that's the one you got anyway?

I didn't get one.. just get my kicks by doing the research:D . I'm holding off for the perfect camera bargain. The Cyber-shot DSC-T5 came close... but I'd be kicking myself for not getting one with a better flash range (for nightclubs, etc.)

Sony are always amazing for their battery life and the video can record at up to 30 fps... so I was very tempted...

Remember you'll have to get additional memory.... coz the onboard memory is pathetic (though makes sense to keep the cost of the units down). Online prices are way cheaper than you pay in the physical stores. Sandisk do a Sony compatible memory stick that is cheaper than Sony's own brand one.

    Thanks for your help:)

The flash wont be much of a problem for who it's for so I might just get it. I had a look at the video/sound quality on that steve's cam review page and it's excellent! The baseball one by the way;)

So let's just hope this is still in stock for €180.

I'm not too sure what memory cards it takes, is it compatible with SD cards?

It says:Compatible with Memory Stick Duo and Pro Duo -

But would an SD card still work in this as I have a spare 1GB one handy!

i picked one of these up a few days ago, and i'm very impressed with it. Havn't used it in a nightclub yet but with the flash so far it has seemed to be perfect. There is no sd slot in the camera, has to be sony memory stick(or equivelent sandisk etc..). When i got mine the only argos out of 5 that i was willing to travel to and that had them in stock was in St. Stephens Green Shopping Centre. I'd advise you to ring up first tho and check stock.

Best of luck in getting it and hope it lives up to your expectations.
    Happy New Year

This sounds like a good deal, just wondering how the likes of the "Ixus65+ Fuji F30 match up with it. These two are 6mp cameras but with shipping its working out at 80-90yoyo's extra as the base price for these ones are about €260+shipping. Has anyone taken any indoor photos yet to see how good/bad the flash is

    Thanks
