what maglite said..its illegal to hunt with a bow/crossbow. The only thing allowed is target shooting with a bow.

The closest I can find is in the WILDLIFE ACT, 1976 as amended by WILDLIFE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2000, Item 42, Amendment of section 34 (certain use of traps, snares etc. prohibited) of Principal Act.

    Quote (as amended)-
    ...a person shall not—
"(a) hunt any wild bird, wild mammal or protected wild animal by means of a trap, snare, net, line, hook, arrow, dart, spear or similar device however propelled...

That said, there's also a lot of stuff in there that "a person shall not" that goes on anyway (lamping, 'hunting' from vehicles, etc), so I'm not entirely sure if this all applies only to 'game' species or not.
Someone else may have better knowledge, and I'm sure the NARGC will know for certain.

The guys that teach me classical fencing also do Field Archery in
their spare time If its of any interest to anyone.
Not quite bow hunting but they do shoot at artificial animal
    targets........

Got a link to their webpage which explains all.
Some interesting movie clips of archers fireing from horseback at
    moving targets:

I used to shoot Mullet with a bow when i was younger.I'd ground-bait the area and when the fish showed up i'd usually bag a few with an arrow attached to a spindle of fishing-line.Twas good sport.
