Fedor vs. Hunt *Spoiler*

I just took a look at this on Google

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8538543427960289262&q=fedor+hunt

for those interested. I thought Hunt did a great job. And to be fair most fighters would have been in serious trouble with the keylock he had sunk in but Fedor just seemed to be oblivious to it and got through it.

At 5:50 into the video, Hunt mounts an attack which leads up to him swinging a massive left Fedor's way. Fedor leans back into the ropes, calm as anything, to avoid it, as if he saw it coming last week - even though it might have landed his head in row Z if it had connected. Unbelievable.

The fight really put Fedor's supreme ability to read and react to his opponent on show. Enjoy and Happy New Year!

He did a good job alright. If he hadn't gassed, who knows how it would have gone.

Though to be honest, I think what it really showed is Fedor isn't as unstoppable as we might have thought. Someone who's good enough at subs would have finished that keylock (you would assume).

Just on that note who do people reckon can beat Fedor? People often cite Crocop as coming the nearest but im not so sure. Don't get me wrong i think he did well but never looked like he had a real chance of winning.

I thought that fight looked like a b grade UFC match rather than a top of the line Pride match. Which I would expect from Hunt who did an amazing job and had the technically better MMA - he worked technical escapes, always fished for the underhooks etc. While Fedor may have been baiting Hunt to gas allowing him work stuff while never really putting Fedor in danger, Fedor was flat on his back, didn't escape when so many HUGE oppertunities presented etc.

Fedor didn't have the same Zip he normally does.

Who can beat Fedor? After seeing that clip I think Nog has a good chance, even though he's been smashed in the past.

    Peace

Fedor strikes me as being quite tired? I'm not sure if anyone else is picking up on that but he said repeatedly in his post fight conference that he feels like he needs to rest. Personally I think he knew he could beat Hunt. There would have been no question in his mind. I think Fedor prefers fights where he thinks the other guy has a shot? I just think he is that kind of competitor.

Fedor has been in trouble lots of times. Fujita's punch, Coleman with hooks in, Randleman with the Randleplex, but nobody can finish him. Nog would never in a million years beat Fedor. Fedor is just too explosive for him.

The only problem Fedor had was Hunt's weight. That was the major factor. Fedor's explosive escapes don't work on a guy of Hunt's weight.

Nobody in MMA today beat's Fedor. The only person who comes close is Crocop, but I still think it goes the same way as before.

I agree Fedor looked a little disinterested, though Hunt really surprised me. I hadn't seen him fight MMA in a while and didn't realise he'd got so... well... good.

I think Nog would beat the Fedor from this fight.

I think it's important to bear in mind that Fedor had a broken toe, and that Hunt has at least 30lbs on him.

Hunt showed how to beat Fedor - take him down, keep him down and submit him. The only problem is finding someone to do that.

Barnett and Monson are stylistically right, but I don't think either has what it takes.

I'd say that's closer to 60lbs or even more. Sherdog is way off :)

I don't think anyone can keep fedor on the ground unless they have a severe weight advantage over him. The problem is he is too explosive, that is why Nog couldn't beat him and never will. I think Fedor would disect Barnett. He seemed a little wary of Hunt's KO power, but rightfully so. He wouldn't give Barnett that same respect standing.
