Just single bets rather than say a bad cheltenham week etc.

The biggest Ive won was this years Irish greyhound derby, had the winner backed from the start and won 650, biggest loss was 50ew on shevchenko to be top goalscorer in the premeirship this year (okay its not a loss yet but I really doubt he'll get top 4 now....)

Would like to hear others stories as im sure theres some good ones...

    At a Point-to-Point in Balindenisk.

We took about IR£5,000 out of the Ring.

    Opened 8's and SP 9/4.

Only that the horse fell in front at the last, we would have done our dough.

    Great day!:D

biggest loss was a few days ago, courtesy of betfair...

Biggest loss was Beef or salmon last thursday, had E250 on it. Biggest win was best mate in his 2nd gold cup yr, had ST£700/400 on it closely followed by 100ew (euros) on fota island in the grand annual at 8s in 2005.

I know that pain, I backed it heavily enough myself. It did beat WOA though!

Biggest horse racing related win was on Total Enjoyment in Cheltenham 2004, biggest loss.. to be honest I can't really remember. I lost 100 quid on Tubbertown Rose when it finished second ages ago. Just have a look at how I did at Cheltenham last year, lost 1500 over the course of the festival - but made it all back at Aintree.

Jesus lads i got up a little gem in the 2.25 wolverhampton on new years eve.
I got a tip for the light fandango but five mins before the race i noticed a big move on Gold response so i changed my stake just before the off. Gold response was 7/1 and fandango was 10/1. I stuck 15 euro on the 7/1 win and a cheeky 5euro forecast on Gold response to win and Fandango to come 2nd and it landed. 489.50euro for my 20stake. Brilliant

    That's brilliant! Good man. :)

Biggest win was a 8 euro patent on Asian Maze, Like a Butterfly and Mighty man at the Aintree festival which returned over 2800, the best thing was that I'd rarely ever do any multiple bets or even use a bookies, I was just bored one Friday afternoon in work so popped around for a few bets to pass the afternoon.

Biggest loss was 400 on a horse called Just Reuben about 3 or 4 years ago, was having a bad time and went chasing, he was 1/2 on in a 3 runner race and came last, I certainly learnt my lesson.

You just reminded me, I lost the same as my beef or salmon stake laying a horse about 2 - 2 1/2 yrs ago. Was down a few quid so layed a horses for a place, 50 quid at 6.0!!!! lost 250 and thought me a very sore lesson about chasing too i can tell you. Can't remember the name of the horse but i remember checking its form not so long after the bet and it was the only time the horse was ever even placed in its life. It was a well bred filly owned by Kalid Abdullah and trained by Henry Cecil. Can't remember the name for the life of me!!!

Laying mishaps.. That reminds me of the 450,000 stg some punter on betfair.com lost because his bot acted up.

Biggest win was €1400 on Brave Inca in the Champion Hurdle last year. Had been backing him from 7/1 at all prices down to 6/4 on the day for 4 months, €20 here, €30 there!! I'm doing the exact same this year only I started a little earlier this time (10/1 and down)

Biggest loss was €500 on Kerry to beat Cork in the Munster Final this year at 1/6. I convinced myself that it was like buying money before the game started and I still couldn't believe they lost the following day, thought it was all a dream and Betfair would refund me!! Made it back by backing them for the All Ireland at 4/1 afterwards!! Never lose faith :)

Member that fella that backed noland at 1000/1 hopping the last and he caught straw bear, that was some punt!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

has anyone on here ever backed a winner at 1000 on betfair? (unfortunately I haven't!!!) I see two horses won yesterday after trading at the ceiling price on betfair. Think there was about 40 or 50 quid matched on noland at that price at cheltenham last yr.
