PMP repairs? (related to Zens)

Hi, story goes - I dropped my Creative Zen Touch a couple of times, nothing went wrong. The third time it happened the touch pad scroll has been fcuked, when I turn the player on the touch pad works for a few seconds until it completely stops working. The player still turns on, music still plays on random perfectly and all the other buttons work fine. so only the touch pad is the only problem.

The Zen Touch still has a months warranty remaining on it but Creative explicitly state that the warranty is void if it is dropped, broken etc.
I was thinking since it's just the touch pad not working I could get away with saying it's a natural fault but unfortunately on the bottom corner of the player where I dropped it there is a visible dint,I'd be chancing my arm.

Do you think Creative would take much notice of the damage if I told them if it became naturally faulty? Does anyone have any experience with getting repairs from Creative? Is the touch pad even repairable?

On a side note, does anyone know anywhere else that specialises in mp3 player repairs should Creative tell me where to go or charge me a bomb to repair it?

    Thanks! :)

In the store where I work (dixons), if the product is only 28 days old, we will swop it out immediately, no questions asked.

If however the player is a couple of months old, we will send the product away for repair. If creative see accidental damage, they won't give you anything.

My advice is to bring it back to the shop you bought it in and they may give you a replacement there and then.

The zen micro has been brought back many times so they will figure it is the same problem again.

Most important thing though is the receipt, make sure you have it

    Good luck ;)

Don't even try deal with Creative they will rip you off!!
Used to have an old Zen Jukebox after about 14 months the headphone jack gave in so they said the'd fix it for €90. Figured it was cheaper than a new one so sent it off and got a refurbished one back with a 6 month warranty. After 7 months the screen went dead so i couldnt see what i was selecting! Rang them up but this time it would be €145 to fix it. Told them to lump off, went and bought an iPod and never looked back!!

swingking, unfortunately for me i bought it directly from Creative so that plan is out the window!

storka, yeah, i fear they'll spot the dint and charge me for it to be repaired. With those figures you mentioned i'd be turned off paying those prices and would probably prefer to just buy a new player

    thanks anyway :)

My touchpad is gone too (zen sleek) but I think mine is just out of warranty if it's twelve months. I didn't drop it or anything, feckin thing jst stopped working. I'm gonna email them about it and see what they say.
