Does anybody know where I can buy PP9 batteries in Ireland (not online!). Is there any store that still sells these rare 9V batteries?

    Picture here

Sorry if this is not the right forum

Eveready stopped supplying them years ago...hence they got very hard to source. They seem to be a small bit easier to source these days though.

There very rare. And even if they were available Tesco would not be the first to supply

The hardware shop in Churchtown, Dublin had them last month when I was last there but not much good to you if you are in Mayo. I'd try an old style hardware, family run shop.

There aren't many of them kind of shops anymore. What is the name of the shop or the telephone number? I'll be in Dublin soon.

    Is it Churchtown Stores?

I got some of them in Lidl recently.

I then bought a battery charger and some rechargeable PP9's there later.

The charger and rechargeable batteries appear at both Aldi and Lidl from time to time.

Yeah that's the one. I think they are 3 brothers that run it.

radionics is a sort of trade shop but you can just walk in off the street and order, might take a few minutes to get it like argos.

I would imagine maplins or peats in town do them, maplins do convertors might be cheaper in the long run

Are you specifically looking for Ever Ready?
These batteries can be bought in loads of shops!! I use them constantly and have absolutely no trouble getting them. Only thing is, the PP9 code was specific to Ever Ready. They are a 6LR61 on any brand

seems a lot of you are getting them mixed up with the common 9V pp3 batteries, the ones in smoke alarms.

    The PP9..
The PP9 is about the size of a grown man's fist, weighs nearly a pound, and is used in torches or classic radios

    Hi,

There is an adaptor that can be purchased to use AA (x 6) batteries instead of the elusive PP9 (plus I suppose you can use rechargable AA's, I havent seen a rechargable PP9 if they exist). I don't know however if it can be purchased anywhere other than the interweb....

I havent tried one myself but I cant imagine its rocket science. There was also a cheaper one (similar spec) on ebay a while back, you might want to check it out as well,

Maplin have these plastic adaptors (HQ01B and JG78K) which work well and they are pretty cheap (about a euro each). There is a rechargable pp9 available on the radionics site noted a few replies back. Don't know where you would get the charger tho'. The adaptor is the way to go.

You can pick up the PP9 in Peats, though the only branch that stocks them is Parnell Street.
