    Howdy,
I recently purchased the 40" HD LCD in Lidl which has good specs. I have bog standard Sky connected but the picture quality isn't great. It takes a couple of seconds for images to fade away resulting a smudgy look to programs, in football the ball resembles a comet. The connection between the Sky Box and the LCD is Scart. I have checked the settings of both units and there seems to be nothing thank would make things better.
    I'd appreciate any feedback.

Sounds like the LCD has a poor refresh rate? You want it to be 12ms or less to avoid the 'commet' effect you're speaking of.

    Hi,

The refresh rate is 8ms. Here are the other specs. (In German but you can see the figures)

    Kontrastverhältnis: 1.200: 1 (typ.)
    Display-Farben: 16.7 Mio.
    Helligkeit: 500 cd/m2 (typ.)
    Physische Auflösung: 1366*768 Bildpunkte
Reaktionszeit: 8 ms (grey to grey) (typ.)

A buddy told me that when you first turn the TV on you should leave it run for 24 hours with no input; to break it in?

The way to ensure that you are getting the best possible picture quality is to do the following:

    1) ensure that the SCART cable you are using is Fully Wired.
    2) ensure that you have it plugged into a SCART output on the sky box that is RGB enabled
    3) ensure that you have plugged it into a SCART input on the TV that is RGB enabled.

Now, assuming you have actually enabled the RGB setting on the sky box then that is the best you are going to get.

If you have done this, and you still feel that the picture quality is poor then maybe the actual TV quality is not the best.
