party acquisitions:implications for tribeca

I'm not sure if Partygaming's acquistion of Empire Online affects the Tribeca / Tain migration to the Ipoker network at all. Party appear have acquired a software licence from Playtech which means that Noble and Cdpoker will continue to be operated on the Ipoker network. Once the Tribeca skins migrate to Ipoker (supposedly within 4 months) it will be a pretty major network even if it does lose the Doylesroom "network" which it must do.

Incidentally I recommend to any of you who are investors to buy into Playtech. Everything is going in the right direction for them at the moment (they have even got the rights to produce the software for poker's arrival in China) and I think it will be a great year for them. Alsosince the Israeli's are getting out of the industry there's a good chance it will be a takeover target soon enough. Chi-ching :)

I hope you all have a splendid new year, may your successes be unexpected and your failures spectacular in how many others it takes down with you!

Can you tell me how one could go about buying shares in them? I've no experience in share dealing.

Its simple enough if you have an account with a broker, just place an order to buy shares in the company. If not, u have to open an account, lodge money, learn the software etc. Theres loads of reputable brokerage houses in Ireland and the UK if you google for them.

In general its a very dangerous game to get into without decent knowledge e.g., any potential takeover may already be built into Playtechs current share price, so there may be little upside and a huge downside if a takeover never happens.

Not trying to discourage, more just a cautious warning from one who posseses valueless shares in the likes of Baltimore and other 'sure-thing' disasters.

Pretty much what AJ said, it's simple enough and easy enough to find the information on how to do it on the net, google makes all of us redundant for this kind of advice you know :)

An example of a cheap UK place to do it is:

Incidentally Playtech's price is not inflated due to any takeover talk. However they have gone up 5.8% today so you'd be almost 3k richer if you bought 50k worth yesterday.

Up another 7% so far today. Whats causing this sudden rise if not the talk of takeover?

I wish setting up a share account didnt take so bloody long. Have been meaning to do this for an age, its about time.
So would you advise on those guys, or would it be better to have an Irish company? They do seem pretty cheap on the price front, but been an absolute novice to all this I am a bit worried about support etc.

I've an account with them. I've a vague memory of this problem re UK residency being solved by a quick phonecall.

I had to set up a sterling account with my AIB branch so it was a bit of a chore, but no problems since i got it set up.

Does anyone use the AIB online share dealing? It might be easiest for me to use that as I'm with AIB. I'm a bit worried about about calling them as I haven't a clue what I'm talking about.

-Hello sir, how may I help you?

=I'd like to set up a share dealing account.

-No problem sir. What market will you be dealing in?

    =Em, share markets...

-Would you like to buy preferred shares or common shares?

    =Yes.

    -One moment please.

I use Bloxhams in Dublin (Phone 6119200). I came accross them in work as I needed them to value shares belonging to a dead client. In passing I asked them what I needed to do to set up a personal account. The conversation went like this:

Me:What do I need to do to set up an account?
Them:Send a cheque for whatever you want and give me your name and address.
    Me:Okay, then what?
Them: Tell us what shares you want to buy?
    Me: Is that it?
    Them: Yes.

I told them what I wanted and got the shares. It's simple as you get a contact and then ring them and scream "BUY SELL BUY SELL". I feel like Michael Douglas :D

I'm nearly a trader. Went onto AIB website. Clicked make share ac. It says ring them. I ring and they say do it thru the webpage. I tell them it doesnt work. We work out that its because Ive a student ac. I end up travelling in to the bank to change my ac to a normal ac, and to get around bank charges I sign up for a laser card. Eazy peazy :)

Bloomberg says the expected completed date is 31/05/2007 and the merger is still pending. Playtech have made a contingency payment of 139m GBP based on future performance. The price today is 3.30 GBP compared with 2.42 GBP on 29/12/2006.

thinking about doing this for awhile but is it not better to go with a spread betting company (delta index) instead of actually buying/selling shares with all the charges that apply.spread betting is also tax free.any1 have any experiance of this?
