Sky HD box and SD channels

I bought an LCD tv during the week and am looking into Sky HD.

If I buy a HD box and don't get the subscription I assume I can still watch the SD channels that are one my current sub. But will the box upsample the SD channels to make look clear and sharp or will they look the same as using an RGB scart on an SD box?

    Thanks in advance.

no. the box will only output hd from the hd channels (larger data stream).
    it wont upscale.

No-one can make SD look clearer by upscalling. It oddly can even slightly blur unless you want jagged edges!

You could get your self a decent receiver that will upscale the SD channels for you...I'm thinking of going this route

I have a HD box and have both Scart RGB and HDMI connections, SD through HDMI connection is a deffo improvement, I'm not saying anything about upscaling, I'm just saying its a better picture, note I have a HD sub so am unable to comment on a non-HD sub box that you are possibly aluding to.
Note that if you get the HD box though Sky you have to take a 12 month sub
