Slashdot tells me there may be a direct-to-DVD film in the works to 'bridge the gap between Galactica and the new spinoff 'Caprica.''

I'm not really too excited about Caprica (haven't seen or read much about it, but the initial premise doesn't really appeal to me -- sounds like they're going to clear away any mystery from the Cylons tbh) but I like the idea of DVD films very much.

A fourth season is yet to be green lit for BSG, and this season has suffered a bit recently from unnecessary filler and a lack of purpose. Of course I'd like to see it back for a forth and maybe fifth season (really, not much more than that) but I'd consider giving that up for a few top-quality feature length DVDs that cut out the fluff and get on with the story.

I don't think this is an either/or situation -- they're hoping for both naturally -- but if season 4 doesn't get the go-ahead, by all means bring on the features!

ill be honest i don't want it to go any further than season 5. BSG is the best show on tv but i would not want to get bored with it, season 5 no more then end with one or two full length movies to be released in the cinema

Yes i will watch caprica if it goes ahead and i would watch this movie aswell

If it goes to cinema I fear they'd need to make an effort to appeal to the wider audience who might not have seen the show, i.e. make it a single stand-alone story complete with introductions and explanations for the uninitiated.

I'd much rather a good single solid chunk of the best of what we've got now. The producers already know that most (or at least a lot) of their fans are DVD or download fans, so they've got enough of a core audience there already not to need to over-reach to justify the cost/risk.

i have to say you are right only BSG fans will go see it and only BSG fans would enjoy it and i think thats what they need to market to.

remember the whole deal with serenity/firefly
i know lots of people including myself who saw serenity before firefly and i loved watching firefly but i know it would have been more enjoyable if i had of not seen serenity first.

Same token i think they should market the BSG movie (if it not a standalone movie and is about the current story arc)
would be to actually say it on the websites forum and even the trailer for the film itself. say something like this is a must see movie BSG fans do not DL it, go see it more money = more episodes and or another movie.

MMO sounds interesting alright but i can see it very limited because there is that we know of 14 planets that have people living on them. 13 inhabited by humans one by cylons

If the game is set after the attack i cant see a MMO working at all. all that would happen is every single cylon player would attack the human fleet at the very start of the game and win the end

The game would have to be set during the 1st cylon war for there it to work out,
it would be interesting tho if there where skin jobs and you talked to other players (humans) but youl be thinking is this person a cylon?
