Sounds like you need to change to your component input on the tv. First switch the cable to hdtv setting, then on your tv press source / av button until you are in your component source. Should have it then. What model tv do you have?

Are you sure you are using the right cables, going into the tv component sockets, ie you dont use the yellow composite for component, component is green ,blue, red, for com video input. Then 2 connectors below for stereo sound.Leave comp yellow cable disconnected. You may need to press av/ ext button on your tv remote 5 times to show component input/ 360 picture on your tv.The red ,white , yellow connectors on your tv will only show 360 games in 480p,,ie NON HD mode. For 360 you use vga connector,or component connectors for to show games in 720p, or 1080i HD mode.YOU switch on hd in the av cable, try going to dashboard set display mode to 720 p.Component copnnectors are labeled y/Pb/Pr on hd tvs.

What tv do you have, and what colour are the connections at the back of it?

I got that TV just under a year ago, was €1100 then, and I am very happy with the performance for the price, the one thing I will say is that when watching DVD's I have to use a custom setup fror colour ect.. as I find the standard setup a little heavy on the red. and low on brightness and contrast.
