Maximising/Destroying value of flopped sets on drawing boards

In live plhe whenever I flop a set on a drawing board with action before me after the flop, am I destroying value by raising when the action is on me? Is it better to call the flop bet and raise on the turn? Or is it just one of those "it depends" situations?

If someone has bet on the flop and there’s a caller before me more often than not I’ll put one of them on a draw, lazy I know, but if one of them is in any way a loose player, which is usually the case, I think it’s a fair assumption most of the time. Thoughts on this please.

Anyway, two instances over the past 3 weeks or so.

First one was in the fitz, a bit hazy on detail.

Nine-handed and I'm to the right of the cut-off and look down at 33, two limpers to me and I limp, co folds, button raises to ten. The two limpers call and I hop on the bandwagon hoping for a set.

Flop comes 7 3 9 rainbow, limper 1 bets 20, limper 2 calls, I raise it to 60, button folds, limper 1 calls, limper 2 folds. There isn’t much wrong here, I think raising is pretty standard, yes?

My image is a bit of a mess but probably tag more than anything else, slightly tilting after a car crash hand awhile before against limper 1, he called every one of my street bets on a Ks Ts Xx Xx Xx board with K6o (I had AsJs), so a bit of a calling station or else he read me perfectly, you decide.

Turn Jx (maybe Qx) L1 checks, I bet 100, L1 thinks and thinks, he eventually folds 79 suited. Was my line too aggro here?

Second one was in the Jackpot on Thursday, playing my usual solid game, get dealt 44 utg and limp in, few more limpers, sb raises to 12, bb calls, I call and 1 other caller.

Sb is an average player from what I’ve seen, bb is a fairly loose player and will call on a draw.

Flop comes 3d 4h Kd, sb bets 15, bb calls, I raise to 50, everybody folds and I muck. There isn’t much I could do in that situation really was there? Yes/No? Was the raise too strong? Make it 40 instead?...Min-raise? ;)
