Martial Arts Beginners Open Night- Tuesday 16th January

Hey there folks, thought I'd post out to let people know about something I'm doing on Tuesday 16th.

Basically, its an open night for anyone who might be interested in joining a martial art for their new years resolution! :) I'm sure everybody knows at least one person who wants to start something but just never does, be it MA, the gym or learning French, so the idea is to make the first step (turning up!) a bit easier for people. :) All of our sessions are open to newbies anyway so its not anything new, I just thought I'd give it a night for a change.

So basically, there's an opportunity here for anyone who might be interested in joining something to come along and join in for a night, or even just sit and watch. The guys and gals who train with us already will be there to train anyway but the idea will be to give a sort of overview of what we do and how we train so it won't be a full on heavy session for anyone who comes along. I'll put the details down below but for anyone who's interested you can pm me or ring me 085-8320174. There'll be something similar for kids too on the same night.

    Cheers!

Where: K.O. Martial Arts, Glasnevin (/Finglas East;) )

    When: Tuesday 16th Jan, 2007

    Time: 5-6pm: Kids age 6-10, 6-7pm: Kids aged 11-15,

    7-8pm: Adults Kickboxing (age16+) 8-9pm: Adults BJJ (Age 16+)

    Hey folks,
Had a couple of people pm me about this with the same questions so I thought I'd post the answer here and bump the thread at the same time.

    - There's no age limit (except of you're a kid then you've to be 6 :D)
    - All of our classes are open so if you miss this you can pop down anytime.
    - All the classes that night will be beginner oriented.

Hope that makes things a little clearer for anyone interested.

    Cheers,
    Barry

Hey folks, little under a week to go for this.

You can pm or ring me for any questions or just turn up on the night, either way is fine.

This may be a stupid question (I'm full of them :))....I have a 9 year old who's interested. Are there any classes run at the same time for adults and kids? I'd drive to Glasnevin with him if we could do a class at the same time.

Well, its not a stupid question, a lot of places run their adults alongside their kids. I'm afraid not me though!

The Wolfpack MMA class for 6-10 year olds runs from 5pm-6pm if you want to bring your kid along to that. Don't know where you're coming from but the adults classes start with Kickboxing at 7 and BJJ at 8 if you had time to get down and back. You may not fancy that though!

Ah, I live out in Skerries, so it'd be too much of a trek / time constraint. Sure give me a shout if you start running kids with adults.

That would be an epic trek alright! I'll never be running kids with adults unless we get two rooms to do them seperately but you never know I might win the lotto tomorrow.
Take it handy and sure we might see you down some other time.

    Hey folks,

Just wanted to shout out a "fair play" to anyone who took part last night. We had a fair few newbies as well as a few people who took the opportunity to return to training after a break ;).

We had a good session and I think everyone enjoyed training, and hated my jokes... Well you can't win em all. Anyway I hope it inspired a few to take up the martial arts be it at K.O. or elsewhere. Next up I'll possibly be hosting an open session for boards types in late Feb or March.

Cheers Barry. Really enjoyed it, even if it did make me realise just how unfit I am! Reckon I'll defo be back.

    Fair play to you Aaron,
You'll be bollixed after your first few sessions for sure, but thats the idea. After that you get to the stage where the feeling is just "mild cardiac arrest", then you know you're fit:D .

    Hi guys.
Just looking for a bit of advice. I know yoga has been discussed before
on threads here a while back, but i suffer from a lot of back trouble and was advised to give it a go. My only problem is im not sure which style to take up and i need one that would be beneficial to me. Maybe a fairly physical style
that would involve lots of stretching. As it is i am getting treated for my back,
but im hoping the yoga could help long term! I hear some of the the big football clubs in England are doing yoga now for the prevention of injuries!
    Any advice would be appreciated!!
