don't use itunes, use winamp and a plugin called ml_pod both available from www.winamp.com
you can then use as many ipods as you want with the same music library

there are loads of other alternatives, google anapod, ephpod or there is even a plugin now for WMP11 that lets you sync your ipod

    1. So your music library probably exists in the iTunes folder at the moment, when you install winamp or any of the other progs, you can point them to the existing music folder (iTunes Library) they prog will then scan that directory and list all the songs - ready to be copied to the ipod...

    2. Yeah - you will need to install Winamp onto your buddies PC, save the install exe onto the ipod to take it with you, then when you hook up to any other PC you can install it and away you go. can be removed again once you are done.

you can take music from your buddies PC.
Attach the ipod to his PC
Copy the folder that his music is in to your ipod
take the ipod home and copy that folder back into your music library [now you can use itunes/winamp/whatever to load it back into the ipod in the correct form.

MTP really sucks. I've never understood why it is used.

I've never understood why Apple makes you do this either. It's ridiculous.

Or you can just drag it straight from the other library, just set it to 'Manually Update Songs'

Its so retarded that you cant take music from other peoples iTunes library though... had i known that i might have went for a zen... actually no i probably would'nt.

You can as iFight says, once you have your iPod set to be manually updated you can use it on as many P.Cs as you like, no need to use winamp or go through any complicate rigmaroll.
