No Satellite Signal

Hi, went to bed last night with all OK on the Sky+ box. But when I turned it on this morning, I got "no satellite signal" with "29" written in the yellow line. I've checked all cables, power cycled the box, reset the LNB via the installer menu, and still the signal on both aerial inputs is gone.

I've multi-room and the other room is working fine so I doubt it's the dish causing a problem. Had a look from ground level, all three cables look good coming from the LNB.

Any ideas? Sky engineer won't be here till Tuesday.

Can I use the Sky box from the other room to verify that the cabling is fine? - i.e. is there anything to prevent the Sky box from working with the Sky+ ports on the LNB?

Yes, you can use the Skybox from the other room to verify that the Sky+ cables are OK.

All the LNB ports are identical.

It looks like its the sky+ box, I swapped the two sky boxes around and the problem stayed with the sky+ box, the other one worked fine in the sky+'s room.

Whats the best way to get it replaced, we're out of our 12 month contract and the box is about 2 yrs old (gone past warranty). Cancel and resubscribe. Sky want €100 in advance for an engineer call out - would that have included a replacement box?

Yes, the engineer call out would include the box afaik. Thats the beauty of sky's lob sided call out charges. A person who needs their dish re-aligned pays the same as a person who is getting a new Sky+ box. You could ring up and threaten to cancel, saying that now that you don't have Sky+ you couldn't be bothered with the service. There's a good chance they will fold and say they will pay for the call out as they don't want to lose your custom.
