Just swung a job in Castlebar. Am looking to get into something up there. I can see from googling it that there's Shotokan and Krav Maga but haven't spotted anything else. I'll give the karate a miss. Not sure about the Krav Maga (is there any sparring done in this?)
Anyone know anything about any kickboxing/thai/mma in these parts?

    HI DAVE K,
Glad you noticed that Krav Maga was an option! As the Krav Maga instructor in the area we haven't yet gotten into sparring. It is something i'm looking into.
However, on any of the IKMF training camps i've been on,with the likes of Eyal Yanilow (IKMF Grand Master)and Amnon Darsa (Global Instructor Team) i've never once seen guys glove up and spar. What we do is slow fighting. All in, but at a lesser pace. The logic being that in times of intense stress the adrenaline will up your pace automatically. Feel free to join us if you like.

As far as i know the nearest thai/mma is in Galway..check out David Joice here on baords!
For Kickboxing, Martin O'Malley runs the White Tigers Club. They train in Castlebar Celtic Clubhouse, PM me if you need his number!

KM is good! I trained with Eamonn/Kravist... he is a great guy!

KM is better with hard intense sparring...thats my IMO.

If one does KM...and mixes it with Muay Thai training... then you got a lethal cocktail!

    Hi Kravist,

I am returning home to Castlebar in a few weeks time. I have been doing American Style Kickboxing in London for a few years. Any chance you know what style of Kickboxing Martin O' Malley teaches at Castlebar Celtic?
