i was talking to a girl who is learning wing chun and is been told about all these (death moves!!!) i know there is pressure points an all but they make it out that if you hit 1 the opponent will die. this makes me angry as i know they charge mega money to be taught these advanced exercises!! for 1 in sports such as boxing mma or any full contact sports, these points are regularly hit without death occurring. to hit these spots deliberately in real life the person would have to stand there and let you hit them. how do they get away with this crap. also she believes her trainer can do that blast thing ryu and ken used to do in street fighter-if this is true why does he not do mma and just let them rip-he'd win quite easily..poll on wheter you believe this or not?

    Hi Mickoo,

Just to let you know there are no pressure points in Wing Chun/Tsun. Some people have added them onto the art but that is all they are, an add on.

Pressure points exist. They just aren't practical in most part against someone who's resisting. Throwing hadukens like Ryu or Ken however does not, unless it's in JOB's house for a street fighter competition, then you better bring all your sonic booms and hadukens!

    Hi Mickoo,

The girl you were talking to, where does she study Wing Chun? As far as I know there is a WC club in Douglas, Cork and some WT clubs in Dublin and that is it as far as I know in the Republic. I am always interested in other people teaching in Ireland so if you have any info please let me know.

Regarding Wing Chun and pressure points, Yip Man whom most Wing Chun people claim linage from didn't teach pressure points as he felt they had no use in combat and in fact their use goes against the principles of Wing Chun which is a principle based martial art. The only Wing Chun person to teach it is William Cheung and "after" Yip Man died he returned from Austrailia to Hong Kong and claimed that Yip Man taught him "alone" correct Wing Chun which includes pressure points or Dim Mak and that every one else (and we are talking about a lot of people here) including Bruce Lee and Yip Man's two sons were taught a false version.

Wing Tsun/Chun has "one" pressure point and it is located anywhere above the neck however I am reluctant to dismiss pressure points in combat as I have never studied the subject and am speaking from a position of ignorance.

Dont Thai Boxers incorporate kicks to the nerve bundels under the arm pit and where the neck meets the shoulder? Weather you want to call that preassure points or not is upto you. The chin is one of those magical spots if you hit it hard enough ul get "magical" results!!

I've heard likewise about the spot above the knee. It might well be as simple as "it hurts to hit here more than here" which everybody teaches.
